History and Background[edit]

Majestic Lines.jpg

An isolated rich world in the Yashodhan Subsector, Enola was originally settled as a research facility in the early years of the Third Imperium. Early on, the administration of the research facility controlled the colony as well. The practice, though changed somewhat over the years, is echoed today, as the Administration of Enola makes decisions for the world's population of twenty million Humans and Vargr. The current Lord Administrator, Baron Ferreli von Lazarus, has been an eager supporter of Majestic Lines, in the hopes that enhanced contact with the Third Imperium will promote growth for his people.

While Enola was as isolated as Bravo (Empty Quarter 1520), its path from Imperial rule to independence was quite different. Within the first century of the Imperial Era, there were only a few attempts to settle the abandoned and empty worlds in Imperial Space. The most notable of these, the Enola Venture, was a research/colony project funded by interests in Fornast Sector. The starships of the Enola Venture made a remarkable crossing of six void parsecs in 50 Imperial. The names of the five major colonial vessels -- The Wanderer, Over the Top, Vapour Drawings, Cafayate, and Sagres -- are recited across the Imperial Empty Quarter even today.

However, the difficulty in maintaining regular contact (in a TL 12/jump3 era of poor knowledge of proper Void navigation procedures) caused the Imperium to renounce Imperial authority over Enola in 70 Imperial. This is among the few times the Imperium has ever done so willingly, especially in a time and place of rapid territorial expansion. In the end, however, the vague and uncertain benefits were outweighed by the hard, irrefutable cost in replacing lost ships and crewmen trying to reach or return from that system.

There are certain similarities between this world and Chimalis (Empty Quarter 3224), being both worlds split between American Indians and Suedzuk Vargr.

World Starport[edit]

Enola has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Enola has a population of 20,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

World Technology Level[edit]

Enola possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government[edit]

Enola is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Enola has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
