System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Enid is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Enid has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Enid has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Enid is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.

  • Visitors are advised to act with caution.

The world was originally colonized by the Vilani of the First Imperium. It did not do well under the Rule of Man, and by -1600 it had lost all space-faring industry. In -1565, an expedition sponsored by Emperor Francis settled on the planet, which experienced a brief renaissance. But with the loss of outside support after the final collapse of the Rule of Man in -1526, the decline resumed. Enid fell to a tech level of 6 and stabilized there.

The Rebin Empire[edit]

During the Long Night this world fell within the Rebin Empire's sphere of influence. It benefitted from trade agreements and defense policies imposed by the Empire, but it struggled with the Empire's unilateral decision-making, interference in its internal affairs, occasional military interventions, and most significantly its views on gender roles. The Empire gradually disintegrated in the centuries before the founding of the Third Imperium, with interstellar trade slowly dying off and some of the worlds it had overseen becoming depopulated.

  • It was considered a Provincial World by the Empire and was afforded fewer rights and protections.
  • The worlds that the Empire controlled or interacted with have a distinct Rebin cultural flavor to the present day.
  • Despite its many shortcomings, the Rebin Empire was overall considered a force for good and most worlds are proud of their association with it.

The planet was recontacted by the Third Imperium in 20 and the Imperial megacorporation Sternmetal Horizons received an exclusive mandate to develop the system. For 60 years, Sternmetal milked the system dry under the guise of developing it. Although the system during that time rose to TL–10 – borderline TL–11 in some areas – most of the crucial infrastructure was owned by Sternmetal, and the benefits of the higher technology never seem to have reached the majority of the population.

In 80, Enid petitioned Artemsus to be allowed to take over all of Sternmetal's assets in the system, alleging that the corporation has gotten its initial investment returned a hundred-fold already. As the petition was supported by Marquis Errol of Enid, Artemsus appointed a Lord High Commissioner to examine the situation and make a recommendation concerning the petition.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Enid has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Enid has a population of 8,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

Locals speak with a distinctive Rebin accent.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Enid possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government (G)[edit]

Enid is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

The government directly administers nearby Enrique, a vacuum industrial world that relies on imports of food and materials.

World Law (L)[edit]

Enid has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]

Enid, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
