Idimkhi are an pony like creature widely found on Gabrael because of their domestication.

Physiology & Ecology[edit]

Native to the plains to the east of the Starport, these creatures are about 100kg in weight, have 6 legs and form herds of 8-48. They are plains herbivores and have a tough hide over their flanks and rear. They have excellent senses of smell and sight, reasonable senses of hearing and can run at up to 30kph. These creatures will usually flee rather than fight. Some have been domesticated by the local Sophonts and are used for riding by children and (usually in pairs) for moving small carts or carriages.

Diet & Trophics[edit]

The Vodhn are herbivores that move in small herds from place to place as the rain falls and plants burgeon. Typically in this region there are major wet months in spring and autumn with dry weeks in between. The rains are more showery than sustained so the grasslands grow in a patchwork and the herds move from patch to patch. Herd size is determined by the size of patches that can be found, and the number of predators that have the patch in their territory.

History & Background[edit]

These creatures are relatively uncommon, but have been domesticated by the inhabitants and so there are a number housed at the outlying settlements on Gabrael.

There is an annual, new-year's-day race meeting for Idimkhi: A ridden class for children and a "Chariot" class for those over 16 years of age or older.
