An infamous pirate gang in Amec Trade Protectorate space.

From 1014, there were several attacks on ships within Protectorate territory. In each case the entire crew was killed and the ship gutted. The pirates also left a unique calling card -- the crew was found pierced and skinned, as though the pirates were worshippers of Xipe Totec, the Mexicatl flayed god of suffering.

For five years the Imperial Navy attempted to catch the pirates, to no avail. Then, in 1018, the Ba'Xipe Totecs attacked a ship on which one of the crew survived to be recovered. Pablo Tizoc had been severely injured in the attack and required major surgery. It took three months before the doctors would allow him to be psionically 'interviewed' as to his experiences. During the probe, Pablo was able to recall the boarding action and was able to notice that most of the Corsairs were apparently Shogun Tecuhtl.

In a daring mission that saw his status boosted to the point that he was subsequently elevated to the Protectorate leadership, Tlacahuepan Motecuhzoma travelled to Shogun and infiltrated the gang. At great personal risk to himself, Tlacahuepan successfully sabotaged the pirate fleet and called in the Amec Navy. Out of eight ships, only one escaped and it was so badly damaged that it was never heard from again.
