History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

A battery of six MRLS walkers was procured. Initially the Baroness wanted ten. They are airmobile and are carried into firing positions one at a time by the unit's single VTOL Destroyer class Transport. Rumors abound that this unit was intended to be unmanned and equipped with robots. When crew bots proved difficult to acquire, she turned to the use of clones. While not strictly legal, it is uncertain if these stories are true. They are under powered and slow, hence the transporter to get them into action more quickly. Unarmored, and sparsely equipped, the rockets and autoloading system, a rarity on these types of weapons, take up most of the vehicle's volume. The amphibious feature allows them to cross water obstacles on their own when the transport is otherwise busy moving the brethren. The battery must remain in communication with the Transport to execute fire missions. The unit can only process one target at a time. This massed fire was a cost savings feature, it does limit enemy point defense assets less capable of interdiction. The central command element retains the remote control device to the slaved launchers. The operator really just drives the vehicle into position, it deploys for indirect fire and they await fire orders to launch from the higher echelon. Designed at her request for her inaugural mercenary ticket for use on Aramanx/Aramis (Spinward Marches 3005). These were designed for a mercenary Dream Ticket, to be built with money provided upfront by Sternmetal Horizons an interested megacorporation. The total unit budget was MCr30.
