Fonnein is a nonindustrial, oceanic water world.
- It is covered with very deep oceans with less than 1% of its land above sea level.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 1% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- A Prison World, exile camp, or prison camp for criminals or other exiles is located upon this world in addition to other points of interest.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Highlord Subsector of Ley Sector in the Domain of Gateway.
- This system was once known as 069-526 (world).
Description / Astrography & Planetology[edit]
The planet known to astrographers as 069-526, later named Fonnein, is the mainworld of the binary Kleister system.
This system is part of the Sentry Cluster, AKA the Shanape Link Worlds.

The Alpha system has three gas giants and several rockball planets in addition to the mainworld.
The Beta system is uninhabited and consists of a gas giant (Railarii), an iceball planet and miscellaneous rocks.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]
There are some archaeological mysteries on Fonnein. What appear to be dolphin skeletons have been found in sediments around one hundred thousand years old. Dolphins only left Terra 3-4000 years ago, and they could not breathe Fonnein's surface atmosphere.

Fonnein has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Fonnein does not have the manufacturing technology base to sustain itself without trade.
- Elsewhere in the Kleister Alpha system, the Imperial megacorporation Sternmetal Horizons LIC maintains a mining operation on Estorr, a moon of the gas giant Praimen. Around twenty thousand employees mine radioactives, with some petrochemical skimming operations just getting underway. Non-company ships are not normally permitted to approach.

Urbanization[edit]
About two thirds of the inhabitants live in underwater cities (there are 12 of these), with the remainder in smaller outlying installations. Each city has a spaceport on a tower poking above the waves (which can be closed by bad weather), as well as extensive submarine docks and cargo handling. These spaceports transfer to the orbital starport for off-world traffic.
