Zhiblchins has both an unbreathably thin atmosphere and a lack of surface water making habitation by sophonts difficult. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This system serves as the capital for the subsector. It is a member of Zhodani Consulate in the Yeplzhaf Subsector of Knoellighz Sector and in the Province of Shtochiadr.

Mainworld Geography & Topography

Zhiblchins life is pressed on two sides on this Twilight Zone planet. Since it does not spin, with one side facing the stellar primary and another cloaked in darkness, Zhiblchins has Baked Lands on the Brightside hemisphere and Frozen Lands of ice and rock on the Nightside. A thin band reaching from the north pole to the south pole, with a declination of almost 5 degrees is home to terraformed plant and animal life by the Zhodani. On the colder edge of the Green Belt are found hardy conifers and hardier, tundra shrubs. Opposite to that toward the hotter edge are found tropical palms, desert scrub and trailing off with tumbleweeds upon mudflats. A water cycle roils like a coiling, cloudy band above the Green Belt which rains in a thin band and then trickles down a few mountains into icy seas. The small seas then flow into muddy mires that leach into drier flats and become evaporated again by the heat of the Baked Lands. Thermodynamics pushes the warm, moist air and evaporated water back over the colder Twilight Zone and rain ensues. Thus, rainstorms, often turbulent with thunder and lightning are commonplace on Zhiblchins. The planet is rich with raw resources which require specially sheltering all-terrain vehicles to extract and bring home to Zhiblchins Shadowport and its Markets. The mainworld features a wide variety of minerals including titanium and various radioactive elements from the Brightside.

World Starport

Due to its lower population of 600,000 which is limited by its green belt habitable region, Zhiblchins Shadowport is the focal site for system and interstellar traffic. It is so named because it is embedded into the walls of a very long chasm that run north-south and shields its traffic from the Baked Lands on the bright side of the tidally-locked planet.

Zhiblchins has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level

Zhiblchins possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government

Zhiblchins is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Law Level

The law level is 3, a low law level which forbids automatic weapons.
