The relationship between the ruling Ovaghoun Vargr and Irilitok Vargr is warmer in the Ukhanzi Coordinate than in the neighbouring Rukadukaz Republic, with the Irilitok considered full citizens, but conversely relations with Humans are colder. Nonetheless, being Ovaghoun, the ruling class follow many Vilani norms, often stressing the elegance and purity of their ancestral ceremonies.

The Ukhanzi Coordinate is near the Julian Protectorate's border with the Third Imperium. This region would have been part of the Domain of Antares, but the Imperium no longer controls territories in the Mendan Sector; during the Golden Age, Zazun is in the subsectors which are firmly allied with the Julian Protectorate, although Vargr political alliances are often fickle.
