Zashe is a moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Kuriishe Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Zashe, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdom of a viscount. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Giza.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

Zashe is a member of the Sylean Main.

Mainworld Data[edit]

World Starport (Sp)

Vipac has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Size (S)

Vipac is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

World Atmosphere (A)

Vipac has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

World Hydrosphere (H)

Vipac has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

World Population (P)

Vipac has a population of 100,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

World Government (G)

Vipac is governed by a Non-charismatic Dictatorship. A continuation of the charismatic dictatorship, where the original leadership has died or retired and replaced by allies or protégés. The reasons for the change in government remain as well as the assertion of rights to rule.

World Law Level (L)

Vipac has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)

Vipac possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.

Imperial Landed Nobility (N)

Vipac, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Zashe is a planet in recovery. Until 1107 civil war razed its surface, causing destruction and devastation, forcing most of the population out of their towns and houses and into nomadic colonies roaming the planet’s surface in an attempt just to stay alive. Hundreds of millions of people left the planet as refugees looking to start a new life on the nearby world of Sivvista (Dagudashaag 3120). Everything seemed to be in chaos with no hope of improving.

Since that time things have settled down, a new ruler is in charge (Alexander Montford) and has played his part in attempting to get people to move back to the cities and begin rebuilding some form of civilisation. So far there has been little investment in Zashe by interplanetary corporations who fear that, as Montford’s government has only the support of a relatively small minority it is likely that any small alteration in the balance of power could cause the war to begin all over again. The planets population, however, know this is unlikely. So long as they are allowed to survive in peace, no matter how bad the conditions, anything is better than the war they remember.

The larger cities have been rebuilt, albeit with flimsy and simple construction techniques and some production of simple goods, mainly for the consumption of the planets own populace has started. The population, while relatively uneducated by imperial standards, are fitter and more skilled in manual labour than is the norm, suggesting that the planet may, one day, be ideal for utilisation by industry.

For now however the planet is one, which remains divided. Factions include those who live in the cities, those who still roam the countryside, those who were part of the winning faction and those who took the losing side. Yet the traveller will find that there also exists a strong bond as people work together to rebuild what was once a far stronger economy. Zashe truly is a phoenix rising from the flames.
