Zalaana supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. This world is a satellite of a gas giant or another planet in the system. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Argi Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Zalaana, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Inuur.

Astrography and planetology[edit]

A gas giant satellite, tidal locked. The bases are established in the Twilight zone where the temperatures are sufficiently warm to sustain life.

The planet specializes in exploiting the many exotic plant and animal life that live in the sunward and nightside.

Zalaana is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.

Mainworld Data[edit]

World Starport (Sp)

Zalaana has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Size (S)

Zalaana is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

World Atmosphere (A)

Zalaana has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

World Hydrosphere (H)

Zalaana has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

World Population (P)

Zalaana has a population of 1,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
World Government (G)

Zalaana is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to write the policies voted on. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by voting population.

World Law Level (L)

Zalaana has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)

Zalaana possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

Imperial Landed Nobility (N)

Zalaana, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.

History and background[edit]

The planet specialises in exporting the many exotic plant and animal life that live in the sunward and nightside. Zalaana travel in small caravans in order to harvest or hunt utilising survival suits specifically made on Zalaana to cope with the trials and tribulations of travelling into both the sunside or nightside. As yet, no one has succeeded in cultivating the native flora or fauna though several attempts have been made.

In 988 a small company, Zalaana-Esgakii Armour Oy (partly funded by Esgakii, a major Lancian investment corporation) was set up to sell specialised survival suits utilizing Zalaana technology. By 1010 the company had a sector-wide reputation.
