Zaamish is a fluid world with an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Laraa Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Zaamish, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Uugmu Khimad.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

Zaamish is a large cold world with an exotic atmosphere.

Zaamish is a member of the Sylean Main.

Mainworld Data[edit]

World Starport (Sp)

Zaamish has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Size (S)

Zaamish is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

World Atmosphere (A)

Zaamish has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks, but protective suits not necessary, but are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

World Hydrosphere (H)

Zaamish has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

World Population (P)

Zaamish has a population of 1,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Government (G)

Zaamish is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.

World Law Level (L)

Zaamish has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

World Technology Level (TL)

Zaamish possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
Imperial Landed Nobility (N)

Zaamish, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

It is home to approximately three million people who live in a huge orbital habitat known locally as "Outpost". The habitat was constructed by LifeTech Corporation during the 900s, and is still governed by the company.

LifeTech Corporation sponsors the Outbound Run, a sporting event that takes place in the system and is broadly popular across the Subsector.

Point of Interest: Illicit Arms Trade[edit]

The local orbital habitat is a free port: there are very few trade laws, and anything can be bought or sold. The IISS keeps a close eye on commodities controlled under Imperial law. While certain areas of the habitat have strict weapons restrictions (such as the powerplant) most other areas are free fire zones. An individuals status is measured by the amount of protection they can afford. While working as a body guard is dangerous it earns good money.
