Xelan Subsector is Subsector D of Far Home Sector.
Description / Specifications
Xelan Subsector is named for the Xelan system and its red giant primary star. The majority of the Subsector lies within the Moat Rifts. The Protectorate of Leset, a paranoid and autocratic Mantlerist state, occupies the systems of the Ritos Cluster, lying within its rimward regions.

Nebula
- The Cauldron Nebula, lying within Cauldron Sector, some 78 parsecs to coreward-trailing, can be seen as a star-studded luminous region in night-time skies from all of the worlds of the Subsector.
Bright Stars
- Basilisk's Eye (1723 Tarchon Sector). The extremely luminous white supergiant star, lying around 128 parsecs to coreward-trailing, can be clearly seen from all of the worlds of the Subsector.
- Demon's Eye (1621 Far Home Sector). The intensely luminous blue supergiant star, lying approximately 20 parsecs to rimward at its closest point, can be clearly seen from all of the worlds of the Subsector even in daylight.

- Humaniti (Human races)
- Solomani (Major Race): 4.811 billion (71.68% of the population), descended from human refugees who fled the Destruction of Terra. They refer to themselves as Terrans.

- Hoppers: an estimated 200.464 million "Distant" Hoppers (2.99% of the population) typically within human settlements. Most have never visited Fedan, their ancestral homeworld, and many have developed unique customs and habits.

Almost all expansion and growth within the region is relatively modern, occuring following the end of the Dark Age and the rise of Development Organizations.

Those of Fives ancestry are uniformly despised, and are regarded as parasites and leeches at best.
Major Historical Events Timeline
Some of the more important historical events that have affected this area include:
- 2255AD: The Last Armada arrives in the Demon Cluster. The Seven Colonies are established. Year One.
- 2500AD: The monolithic and anti-expansionist Second Confederation is founded. Xelan Subsector sees no settlement or development other than a few military outposts and listening stations.
