Whenge is an agricultural world with an ideal environment for producing food from plants, animals, or other forms. The system has a population between 100,000 and 10 million sophonts. It is a Human dominated Non-Aligned world in the Cronor Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.

Astrography & Planetology

Because of its astrographic location astride the Cronor Cleft, Whenge is part of a roundabout J-2 route for Zhodani ships passing between Consulate space to Rimward and the five worlds clustered around Cipango (Spinward Marches 0705) to Trailing.

History & Background (Dossier)

The mainworld was a poor, desperate colonial remnant of the Rule of Man. Ecological degradation and intercommunal violence reduced the planet to ruined anarchy and it was partially interdicted by the Zhodani Navy.

History-Era: New Era

The sudden expansion of trade with the Regency, and a need for a shortcut across the Cronor Cleft, compelled the subsector council to open the world to development. Initially the local tribes were hostile to the community growing out of the new downport, but have been enticed out of their own communities by off world trade. Persons of Solomani-Zhodani descent is the most rapidly growing segment of the population.
