Waatel is a nonindustrial, pre-rich water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It still lacks adequate population to expand its economy to a rich status.
- Its economy is growing and living conditions are expected to rise in the near future barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Aslan Hierate Kyatulyare Vassal in the Shillelagh Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- Aslan make up around 40% of the population.
- Humans make up around 60% of the population.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Waatel has a solitary primary star.
- It is a yellow main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x3 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones prime H region.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Waatel is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Waatel has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
- It experiences moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Waatel has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
- The worlds seas experience extreme tides.
Satellites[edit]
Waatel retains a relatively large, relatively close, arrid, trace atmosphere moon.
- The world orbits once every few days.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Waatel is a quiet settlement with a stable economy and acceptable standards of living.
- The world has been settled by Ihatei Aslan, moving to spinward along the edge of the Great Rift in search of new territories.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
A number of organizations and private interests are active within the system.
- Commercial traffic is relatively frequent: ships occasionally arrive and depart.
- Commo is filled with signals and private chatter. Communications are in Trokh.
- Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A few vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Aslan settlement began during the 1060s.
- It is a member of the Aslan Hierate Kyatulyare Vassal.
- The world falls under the broad purview of the Seieakh and Aokhalte clans.
- Prior to settlement, Waatel was a barren world.
- Construction is ongoing in many areas.
The human population of the world arrived with the Aslan.
- Most are integrated members of society.
- Many are not there by choice.
Note that social data, though frequently updated, may be out of date: additional groups may now inhabit the system and maintain their own culture, forms of government, and systems of law.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Waatel has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Waatel has a population of 300,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- About 60 percent of the population (roughly 180,000 individuals) are Aslan.
- Around 40 percent of the population (approximately 120,000 individuals) are human.
Urbanization[edit]
A single large urban center is located on a rocky archipelago. Other more distant islands are the sites of smaller satellite communities.
- The population are concentrated into a single relatively densely populated region.
- Most of the surface is ocean wilderness.
All buildings are constructed in the distinctive curved style of the Aslan.
- The oldest structures on the world are no more than 50 years old.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Waatel possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government (G)[edit]
Waatel is governed by multiple Aslan Clans. Similar to a Balkanized Government, there are several Clans competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
- The human government code listed on star charts corresponds to Aslan Government Code H.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 2,000 professional warriors, in service to the various clan authorities.
- These are supplemented by approximately 1500 human personnel.
- Waatel's governments do not permit human front-line military service.
- Humans are employed entirely in support roles.
World Law (L)[edit]
Waatel has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

- Resources: A (abundant)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
