Voskhod Subsector is Subsector A of Vland Sector.

Description (Specifications)

Voskhod Subsector is a long settled region, divided between the Imperial Domain of Vland, and a few neutral human and Vargr-dominated worlds. Originally settled by the Ziru Sirka and then controlled by the Rule of Man, it was partially conquered by the Vargr prior to the Long Night and has remained as a frontier since that time.

  • It has been developed and exploited for millennia.

Astrographic Features

The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this subsector:

Stellar Distribution

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Voskhod Subsector.

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
  • The Vedhaaez Cluster, a minor trade route, lies along its coreward edge.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Trade Routes (Economic Astrography)

One trade route lies within the region:

Vedhaaez Cluster

The Vedhaaez Cluster, a small Main, winds through the coreward half of the subsector.

  • A mixture of Vargr and human vessels move along the Main, carrying huge amounts of goods and commodities between its member worlds.

  • Worlds lying on the Main are highlighted in green.
  • Vedhaaez, the namesake of the cluster, is marked in red.

Subsector Summary

Voskhod, subsector A of Vland contains 36 worlds with an estimated population of 12 billion, a per capita income of Cr2,681, and a total economy is BCr32,228. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr2,527 through 27 starports (4 Class A, 11 Class B, 9 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 541,615 people. Driving this interstellar trade are seven Agricultural (Ag) worlds, three Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, six Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, five Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Voskhod maintain eight Scout bases, five Naval bases, and one Way station. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 7 and 11). History & Background (Dossier)

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

The entire subsector was a human-dominated area under the Ziru Sirka, with settlements dotted across the region. Vargr began moving to rimward during the Rule of Man but by the time they reached Vland Sector their numbers were widely dispersed among the many worlds they had overrun. As groups moved deeper into the human heartlands they met increasingly capable resistance and a de-facto human-Vargr border region was established, running through the coreward part of the subsector. As the slow collapse of the Long Night began, raids and attacks into each faction's territory were common. These only served to destroy the infrastructure of the region and increase the economic and commercial decay.

The whole region (particularly those worlds that had been occupied and pillaged by the Vargr) regressed during the Long Night and many became barren. Towards the end of the era Sylean Federation jump technology became increasingly available to both the humans and Vargr within the area, and worlds began to be recontacted, claimed, and settled by both races. By the time the young Imperium formally annexed the subsector, the Vargr within the region were capable, surprisingly well organized, and well-enough equipped to halt further easy Imperial expansion. The coreward edge of the subsector became the border of the Imperium.

The Voskhod Subsector is defended by 245th Fleet.
