Vilis is an industrial world with a tainted atmosphere. The system has a population over one billion. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Vilis Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Vilis, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdoms of a count and a minor duke. All three are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world.

History & Background (Dossier)

Over eight billion people reside on this relatively small world, resulting in significant crowding, especially in the cities. Food is grown on planet using efficient means, but as noted the ecology is stressed by the high population and the polluted air. Additional food is imported from orbital habitats, and from other systems. A strong manufacturing base has made all of this possible despite the ecological damage it has wrought.

The main exports of Vilis include warships, weaponry, and high-technology goods. Vilis Shipyards operate under a Imperial contract to produce patrol cruisers and a larger class of frontier destroyer for the open market. [2]

Historical Data

Vilis was originally settled by Sword Worlders from Gungnir (Spinward Marches 1221) -- then known as Morglay -- who named it Svavasorm.

Vilis became a client state of the Imperium in 470 and a full member in 552.

The County of Vilis is currently part of the Duchy of Regina following the the creation of that Duchy in 629. Prior to that it was part of the Duchy of Rhylanor (Created 522). Vilis is the capital of that County. Despite being in the Vilis Subsector, Vilis is neither the Subsector Capital nor the seat of the Subsector Duke nor subject to him!

Vilis was home to the 3rd Vilis Colonial Division.
