The Vigilant class Starmerc Armed Liner is an armed starship.

Description (Specifications)

The Commonwealth has modified its basic starmercs with several improvements. A TL16 power station reducing fuel requirements for Jump, to 50%, while creating a defendable design: 4 agility, 4 fighters, 4 energy turrets, and 2 armor. Vigilante class has a basic crew configuration of 13. It has accomdations to support 40 additional staff members; 32 marines and 3 marine officers, 4 fighter/shuttle pilots and 1 flight officer. The Captain, First Officer, Flight Officer and Marine Commander have their own cabins. The remaining 49 share double cabins. 2 single cabin are available for passengers. The captain has a double and the first officer has an open extra bunk in his double cabin. Fuel supplied includes 120.8 tons J-4 fuel and 20 tons power plant fuel for 4 weeks of duration. Cargo has a 5 ton fuel blatter for 1 week of fighter/ lander fuel. There is 7.06 tons of missiles and 10 tons for vehicles.

Vigilante class has features: 1. One Bridge gunner can control all of the energy and PA turrets, the other can choose to control missiles or sandcasters. Although, computer control is often used for the sandcaster. Each turret has an individual operations station. The former bridge dome has houses the communications, sensor arrays. The side missile turrets have been replaced with PAs, and the aft missile turret replaced with a Triple Pulse Laser Turret. 2. The dummy bridge is used for a viewing station that allows local control of those functions. This is useful

for monitoring ground activities. The communications and sensor arrays are forward of this location.      

3. The disk has seperate life support and functions. It can ask as a defense point should the remainder of the ship be damaged or highjacked. 4. The 4 Kestrel interface fighters can be replaced by 3 Viper Interceptor fighters at a cost of .01Mcr alterations and an additional 5 tons. She also has 1 external 20ton dock clamp. She can accomodate 2 more Kestrel fighters and move her lander onto the upper hull.
