A Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket Drive (VASIMR) is a kind of Maneuver Drive used on vessels.
- VASIMR is sometimes referred to as the Electro-thermal Plasma Thruster or Electro-thermal Magnetoplasma Rocket.
- They are also commonly called Relativistic Drives or Reaction Drives among other terms.
- It is a kind of Ship Equipment.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
It is an electrothermal thruster used in spacecraft propulsion. It uses radio waves to ionize and heat a propellant. Then a magnetic field accelerates the resulting plasma to generate thrust (plasma propulsion engine).
- It is one of several types of spacecraft electric propulsion systems.
