Category Imperial Research Station vs Worlds with a research station

It appears that there is some overlap between the two categories. Does it make more sense to list the specific worlds on the world page and just retain the other category for specific Imperial Research Stations? The other possibility would be to combine the two categories. Your thoughts? Jmattera (talk) 20:41, 29 July 2015 (EDT)

Trade Classification Codes

Thank you User:Tjoneslo, for turning my trade classification code summaries into a coded app. I bet that will be a great asset for the Wiki. Appreciate your thoughtfulness and hard work. Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 12:18, 20 June 2015 (EDT)

Thanks for your catch on the incorrect fluid world summary (I had it labeled with H2O when it should have been non-H20). I'd like to collaborate more on this kind of asset for the Traveller wiki and its users. If you have any ideas, let's collaborate and make them happen. Thanks, Thomas! Daily Spreadsheet Log Offer

Second, I would like to ask to try the "Show Preview" functionality when you edit articles. I know it is a different workflow. Do this by pressing the "Show Preview" button (rather than the "Save Page" button) while you are editing the article. This will show the article as it would appear, and you can continue to edit it. The reasons for this is to keep the Recent Changes list a little smaller, which makes reviewing it for changes (like the talk page requests) faster and easier. Thanks. Tjoneslo (talk) 18:47, 6 May 2015 (EDT)

Tjoneslo, I've tried the "Show Preview" functionality a number of times and I am not having any luck keeping up the speed and accuracy with which I usually edit and add to the site. I will keep trying and see if I can increase my technical proficiency to your level, but in the mean time, I thought I'd offer you this: Perhaps I can input daily data into a spreadsheet to make your log easier to keep. I will keep trying, but I wanted to try to offer you something else in appreciation for what you've done since I am having difficulty getting my technical proficiency to the desired level requested by you. PBG Juxtaposition

As I go through Zarushagar Sector, I am increasingly noticing a common mistake: the PBG values are switched. Since the infobox for a world reads PGB and most entries including the T5SS read PBG, the B and G values have been switched on nearly 75% of the entries. Yes, only about 25% of them are correct according to T5SS. I stopped tracking it after about 50 entries so I don't know the exact statistical breakdown. Still, in my limited sampling, over 75% were juxtaposed incorrectly. This might call for some changes to be made to the template to avoid this very common error. Just bringing it to your attention. Thanks. Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 14:50, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

I will look for an example. I didn't do many today. I mostly created and edited new entries. What I mean is, if a planet had a PBG value of 715. It came out as:
  • p 7
  • g 1
  • b 5

Instead of:

  • p 7
  • g 5
  • b 1

Or:

  • p 7
  • b 1
  • g 5
So, values are getting switched. Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 19:07, 18 May 2015 (EDT)

Offer to Coordinate & Assist (Teamwork)

Hi Tjoneslo, if uyou have any ideas how to work better as a team or know of ways we can support each other, please E=mail, PM, IM, or otherwise contact me. I would like to support your efforts as we did for the Beastmaker simple animal entries. I thought that worked out well.

If you get a chance, please E-mail me offboard and educate me more about the sector and subsector entries you have been making. I'd like to learn more and be more supportive of your goals and efforts. Thanks! Sincerely, Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 09:54, 29 March 2015 (EDT)

Administrator to Cull SPAM

Hi Tjoneslo, I will volunteer to become an administrator, if you could use another one, and block SPAM'ers of which there have been a large number today. I'd be happy to follow your guidelines for blocking SPAM'ers. Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 18:18, 5 March 2015 (EST)

Thank you for your offer. The problem is manually deleting the pages is an endless game of chasing your own tail. This Wiki has installed Abuse Filter extension. This has been working to stop a great deal of spam for a long time. This new wave simply needs some new, adjusted, filters to prevent it from showing up in the first place. The problem is it may prevent edits from some users. Well, the system warns the user they are triggering an abuse filter. Then allows the edit to go through. I'm going to give the new filters a day or two, and see if anything breaks. If you run into any problems please let me know. Tjoneslo (talk) 19:51, 5 March 2015 (EST)

T-Wiki Categories & Subcategories: How? Best Practices? Preferences?

Hi Tjoneslo, how do I build out Categories & Subcategories? I did read the FAQ for the Wiki, but I'm mostly asking to be consistent with past efforts and because I think you'd know your own preferences and best practices better than anything that was pre-written. Thank you! I've super appreciated all of your previous help. Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 12:09, 24 February 2015 (EST).

The original tendency for creating categories was to use simple, one word items (e.g. canon, ships, dictionary). Wikipedia (which we've tried to emulate in some ways, used longer phrases (e.g. "Worlds with a Scout Base") categories. I still have a preference for the shorter names, but in reality use what makes the most sense and is understandable for the name of a group of things (or ideas).
For sub-categories, it is relatively easier to update them if we desire a change to category hierarchy. Also it's not tied to a strict hierarchy. So, for example, the "Aslan Clans" category can belong to both the "Aslan" and the "Organization" category. Now we can correctly find the group from both places.
I think is is possible to overdo number of categories. So if an article is put into one sub category, it doesn't necessarily need to also be in all the parent categories too. Tjoneslo (talk) 22:00, 24 February 2015 (EST)

Language Assistance Offer

Hi Tjoneslo, I noticed on the "Lost" Books page that user "178.237.109.139" had posted a large section in the PORTUGUESE language. I am lucky to be able to read several European languages with great fluency and would be happy to help you with any translation work you might desire. I used to be a professional translator. I can read-write Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Hebrew, Arabic, and several others with great levels of fluency. That post looks like SPAM although it might have been the kernel of something more interesting. It looks like a military catalogue blurb. Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 07:40, 12 February 2015 (EST)

P.S. If you have any other projects that I may assist with, I would be happy to pool our efforts. I am trying to finish up the Gypsy Knights Games pages right now. Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 07:40, 12 February 2015 (EST)

Proper Way to Delete Pages

Hi Tjoneslo, I made some mistakes on the Gypsy Knights Games product pages that I will soon correct (You noticed the mistakes as well as the owner when I asked him to proof them).

How do I correctly (properly) get the mistake pages deleted?

I seem to recall reading about a {Recommended Deletion} tag or something like it... Please advise.

Thanks for all of your help and guidance. It is greatly appreciated. Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 11:30, 5 February 2015 (EST)

"Eras & Editions" Table

Hi Tjoneslo, no worries about the Milieus page. I built a table entitled "Eras & Editions" on my user discussion page that I'd like you to look at when you get a chance. That's what I was doing. I'd love to hear your feedback. I've always wanted to build a table with that data. It can be highly confusing for even an experienced Traveller player (...since the late 1970's in my case).

If you like it, where does that table belong? On the Milieu's page? Somewhere else?

Thanks. Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 18:12, 29 January 2015 (EST)

Front Page Changes

Hi Thomas. I made a few front page changes based on some direction from FFE through one of its representatives. Thanks for allowing me to contribute to the Traveler Wiki. I'm happy to have you editing what I contribute and making sure I am compliant with the Wiki, writing guidelines, and FFE policies. I follow your contributions and my mistakes that you correct. Thanks again! Maksim-Smelchak (talk) 12:12, 23 January 2015 (EST)

New User Maksim-Smelchak

Hi Thomas, I finished porting over the High Tortuga aliens. I remember reading somewhere that you had that as a future task. I am still cleaning up the entries though.

You're very welcome, Thomas. I mostly wanted to be in contact to make sure I am following the rules that you set down for the site. I've read all the guidelines and have experience with Wikis. Please contact me if I'm doing anything wrong. I want to be a cooperative member of the community.

Thanks for all your contributions, particularly the tedious numbering the systems in each sector. Dcorrin 14:20, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

You are welcome, thanks for starting/hosting/managing a Traveller wiki. I didn't have to do a lot of work to figure out the numbers, as Anthony Jackson already did all the work on his site: http://maps.travellercentral.com

Sunbane

This used to be the name of one of my servers, during the time that I was listmom for the TML, I wonder if the name is related. The server served as an FTP site as well, so people would ftp sunbane.engrg.uwo.ca for access to traveller-related data... Dcorrin 12:30, 7 April 2006 (PDT)

It would not surprise me. I've never been able to find the source of the name from anywhere. Google.... "For many years official data files existed, first on GENII, then on sunbane." I'll add a note to that effect.

Gateway to Destiny

I was fixing the Akeen entry to use the data from the Gateway to destiny book. I realies there is a whole bunch of "canon" data in this book. There are a large group of races, a number of empires discussed, complete writeups on four sectors, and a number of peronalities. Did you want me to go through a dump the library data from this book in to the Wiki?

Similiar question about the GURPS Material. It's a little longer, and will need to be typed (and edited) rather than cut and pasted.

There are only two questions that really need answering. First we want all the data that we can in the wiki. The questions are 1) is it library type data (self-explanitory) 2) Is the content a significant part of the book. e.g. if the data was transcribed could you forgoe buying the book? - I have a category "complete" for things like 101 Religions, so we can put the reglion name and a quick library like summary, but leave off enough information that one would have to buy the book to make full use of the information. This allows the information to become widespread use, and those that want to make use of it would be encouraged to buy the product.
We have permission to use the Library Data, and things like the Imperial Encyclopedia for the various versions of traveller, but not for others. So if this supplement has this information as background, and a lot of additional stuff then okay. (The alien races books have a ton of info on the races, we put a page or two worth of information here, the book is still a necessary resource for someone wanting to use the race fully). Dcorrin 18:17, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
OK. I'll post some of the material, keeping the stuff limited to the library data. It will make an interesting addition.

Author Credits

Thomas,

We should be linking all the authors in the articles (such as TD, JTAS etc), and books so that we can look at the wanted pages to find high article count authors to set up pages for them as time permits. Dcorrin 19:40, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
I'll do my best to find these sources for the entries for the articles. Most of the TD entries were borrowed from a website which posted only the TD issue, not the individual article. This, like other issues, should be put into a Posting Guidelines page and then linked on the front page. Tjoneslo 19:46, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Need a little help

Would you take a look at Maneuver Drive for me. I can't seen to get it quite right. Thanks Sstefan

Me too! I can't seem to get Template:NavigationBox and/or Template:ThirdImperiumEmperors to work. There was a few #if in the NavigationBox (which I stole from Wikipedia), but even though we should have a version of Wiki which supports this, I don't think they work. I removed them, but the box doesn't look right still. Dcorrin 20:44, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Give me a little time to work through this mess. I'll see if I can help. Wikipedia marks these as "special" so they are more complex than others. Tjoneslo 01:55, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks Thomas, it looks good. I have been waiting for the #if to work for some time... My original idea for the LE template was to supply a place for a reference (or list of references), if present then the article would be marked as canon (though some references are non-canon e.g. judges guild), and then a nice format for the reference would be done (A box in the corner say). Of course we needed to get the bibliography completed first.
This is why we have the source in this type of box (blank at start of line)
as it is an item to be worked on site wide. Dcorrin 13:49, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

For My reference.

The Wikia wiki does not support the {{#if:}} because it does not have the Parser Functions extensions enabled. This works in the Wikipedia because they do (along with a number of other extensions). I need to submit a bug report/feature request to the Wikia people via their Bugzilla system. But am currently wating for the login to get in.

Entered into bugzilla as bug 372

How did you calculate our ranking? I used the official article count which gave the following the last time I looked:

I used this page which gives a sort ranking based upon good articles. Based upon total articles we rank 53rd. I'm not sure where you found these statistics. Tjoneslo 02:55, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
First, I was only counting English-Language sites, and I was not counting the test sites. I used the stats from the "More Statistics" link on our main page. So remvoing StarTrek (De and Nl), scratchpad, trains (french), test601, and test613, that makes us 20th, which is what I was reporting. Dcorrin 13:18, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Ah, the light dawns. You are correct in that case. I'll fix the front page to be 20th. With another 1000 articles we'll be around 12th or so, which I roughly estimate will be the end of the canon material. Tjoneslo 14:05, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Rure Subsector

Thanks for adding the InfoboxSubsector and marking some hyperlinks. I today pasted the world descriptions I wrote into this wikia. And I hope to find some time in the next weeks to fill out the gaps. Any grammar, style or spelling might need improvement, as i'm not a native english speaker. --Kraehe 22:50, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I saw that you added UWP template to Gakhamesh (world). Nice ... but there are several worlds, where the UWP template would run into the problem that I distict between meat and awaken in my campain. e.g. Chulesh (world) has 700 awaken controling a class A tech level C startport in addition to 20 million inhabitants living at tech level 7.

Would it be possible to extend the UWP template to cover virus population in addition to humanoid population in TNE ? eg. uv=New Ear Virus population ? --Kraehe 10:29, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

You are right my Gushemege Mercantile Guild 3rd survey distincs between human and virus population at same TNE time. e.g. Imaparlu has [A2778D] in their trade column. This translates to a class A starport at techlevel D, with 20.000.000 robots. Those robots are calling themself awaken, while others might call them vampire. I currently rewrite the Muecke article, and hope to fill out some more gaps soon. --Kraehe 11:34, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Inconsistant Publish

The Sword of the Knight Publications entry, as a publisher is good, however the published list is a list of the magazine. I think it would be more consistent to just put the three magazines in the body, with the current list being the body for the missing Traveller Chronicle entry. (There are probably many other inconsistencies, but I just noticed this one).

Float?

So what is the difference between align= and float? Dcorrin 19:56, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

In theory: Align= is depreciated and may no longer be supported. The official CSS approved method is to use style="float:". In practice: Nothing. They both do exactly the same thing. Tjoneslo 21:35, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

What's that pesky Hiver up to now?!

Hi people. As a result of my own ongoing project (Spica) I've developed a focus on UWPs, Trade Classfications, etc. so for the time being I'll be focussing on those aspects here. Also I'll be around a bit more here than I have been of late, hopefully being useful! Gruffty 10:40, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the help with the sources thing Gruffty 09:18, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
...And thanks for adding the categories bits as well.....(one day I *might* be able to do all of these myself!). Gruffty 21:43, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

BFB or Paperback?

I've noticed that some of my entries for book formats have changed from "BFB" to "paperback". I'm trying not to get into some sort of weird revert war here, so I need to know if I can carry on using "BFB" or not and, if not, why not. Thanks Gruffty 07:28, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Did I change more than just the Hivers (Alien Module) book? I know I changed that one when I replaced the InfoboxBook template. (I liked the idea of the Also See). See your talk page for my explination. Tjoneslo 10:42, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

OK, I've had a think about this problem, and agree with the idea of using technical book-making jargon. I think that we should have a page or pages describing the various formats (without calling those pages BFB) across the rulesets. We could redirect BFB and LBB to that/those pages. I'd personally opt for just one page covering all the formats. Gruffty 15:24, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Uploading files?

Thomas, how do I upload files to the wiki? I've tried browsing for instructions, but I must be overlooking something obvious. I have some .jpg files I'd like to add. Rancke 13:33, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

On the left-hand side, under the search bar, there is a link to "Upload file". That's what you want. --Rindis 16:48, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Thinking alike

I can't believe that you had the same idea to expand the conversion at the same time I did (though I used a separate article). Dcorrin 18:07, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

I think you are confused, I was referring to Magnitude and Absolute magnitude which were edited within 20 minutes of each other (actually it took me about 40 minutes to research the data). Dcorrin 18:30, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Problems with colspan and if in templates

Can you take a look at the entry Sol (star) and the InfoboxStar template: Template:InfoboxStar. I was trying to make the image optional, so I took the <tr><td colspan="2">{{{image}}}</td></tr> and put a {{if|{{{image|}}| around it, but the combination doesn't seem to work. I tried the #if as well, but that seemed worse. Dcorrin 20:58, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

More Help

As a seeming expert in DPL, I need some help with a template. I have a list of books by author broken down by category. The only issue is that I don't want the Ludography category printed out with the others. See Loren Wiseman article. I like the breakdown by challenge/classic traveller/etc. but I don't think that the Ludography category should appear in this list. (The Navigationbox was probably not the best choice either...) Dcorrin 22:17, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Page Help needed! (Several issues involved)

I've just created the page Understanding Traveller. For some weird reason, the page seems to have added Categories to itself (not a problem, but I was expecting to have to put them in myself!). *BUT*: the Categories bar on the page has GDW Books in it; there is no Category called that, but there *is* a Category called GDW_List. Also, I cannot get the book Infobox to show that the book is canonical; I type canon=yes and it shows "no" - what am I doing wrong? Finally, I noticed when cross checking the Categories bar that the Categories bar for the The Traveller Book has a link called "Ass Books" - wandalism, eye preezoom? Any help on sorting these out would be appeciated, cos I ent no Wiki genius ;) Gruffty 21:35, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

OK, sorted the "GDW Books" Category out by creating it (I didn't understand what was being asked of me by the software when it created a Category page for me to edit!). The "Ass Books" Category is still there though and I still can't get the book infobox to show the book as canonical. Gruffty 21:44, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Bollocks! (if you'll excuse the Anglo-Saxon). There is also a Category called Category:Game_Designers_Workshop_Books as well as a Category:GDW Books and the GDW List as well <confused!> Gruffty 21:52, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your support and help with the link :D Gruffty 21:59, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

I sent an email to James Kundert immediately after you reminded me. I have yet to get any response from him. I pulled the email address from his home page, so I think that is the email he uses.

The reason I did not ask for permission before posting the information was because I was suffering from a massive migraine at the time and simply forgot. The info I did post was not all of the information on those vessels. I was thinking, but obviously mistaken, that what I was doing was legit under fair use.

Because of the lack of reply I am not sure as to what needs be done with the articles I posted. Should I remove or leave them? Leaving them until we get a response from James Kundert, of course. Rycharde 19:50, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Why did you delete my entire entry for Kwai Ching (District 268) ??!!!

I do not believe that anyone has the right to simply delete someone else's contributions to the the site -- especially when they do not even bother to provide an explanation or rationale for why they did so. Certainly it is very impolite.

Please do not delete any more of my contributions. If you continue doing so, I will begin deleting your contributions. Indeed, for every word of my contributions that you delete, I will delete the same number of words from your contributions. Let's see how well you like having someone else wreck your work!

No one deleted your Kwai Ching entry . . . check the revision history. In fact not a single word of yours was even edited, much less deleted. All of your text was there, intact. And in any case, Tjoneslo didn't edit the page -- *I* did. --Garnfellow 13:55, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Since the pages can't be permanently edited, or even deleted in a Wiki nor can I find any evidence of deliberate vandalism, I'm considering this matter cloased. Garnfellow please feel free restore your edits. If Vandarth (or anyone else) wants to discuss changes to their edits or other material, I'll reopen the discussion. Hi there

Hi there! did not expect to get a response so fast! I have been an avid player of traveller for 24 years, and have been working on my current gameing universe for the last 10. it is a pleasure to talk to a fellow traveller gamer! I will be posting several of my home rules for T20 soon!

Syntax for meta-links

Thomas, what's the syntax for creating a box that looks just like the one created by the Metadata template, but points to a specific article (I want to have a references to the same metadata from a dozen different subsector articles). Rancke 16:15, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Do you have the Adjutant vehicle guides handy? If so what is the name on the (inside) title page? Dcorrin 18:07, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Whoops! Forgot all about that! Try: http://www.backbreaker.com/~rindis/Games/Traveller/Logo7.png --Rindis 16:59, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh, right. Forgot to scale the image down. I typically generate it at double size, and then reduce it to the proper size. Try again at the same place, should be the right size and transparent now. --Rindis 00:40, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Cold sleep

I added the article on Cold sleep. As I wrote in the Discussion section, the content of it mainly comes out of my own imagination. This is why there is no reference. If this is conflicting with more official sources of data, feel free to change it. Otherwise, I can expand it. --Urbi et Orbi 17:22, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your answer (and encouragement, despite the not-so-good english - I am trying to improve it). I added some more to the article and hope that the reference is clear enough now. --Urbi et Orbi 04:13, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

JTAS #25 and Beyond...

Hi Tjoneslo!

I'm hoping that you could clear up some confusion. I have the recompilations of the Journal of the Travellers' Aid Society that Marc has republished. The first two recompilations cover issues 1-24 and correspond to what I can find in the Wiki here. For JTAS#25 I know the Journal went in as part of Challenge Magazine. However what I see in the JTAS25 entry and what I have before me in my compilation bear no resemblance to each other. Same with JTAS26.

What happened? Just curious/confused. :-) -Doc Kinne, Somerville, MA 21:32, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

Re: JTAS25 and Beyond...

Tom: Thank you! Now I get it. What I have were the JTAS sections put into the center of Challenge magazine. OK, that makes sense now. Thanks! -Doc Kinne, Somerville, MA 07:54, November 21, 2009 (UTC)

MGT SRD

Not sure if my reading of the License for the MGT System Reference Document is correct. It looks to me like including it here would constitute an allowed use, so long as those pages were marked Open Game Content. Is there a reason that rule information has not been included directly into the Wiki in a viewable format? Lotherius 16:27, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

Ah Hello

As you know I started this wiki just now. But I have a significant experiences in Wiki-writing. I'm korean speaker and I've never been talked with an real English speaker. Thanks for your greetings.

Ah, Where can I learn the Traveller universe? Just reading some articles in here is fine? Please recommend me materials(something like rulebooks that a beginner can easily comprehend). I've already read GURPS Traveller : Interstellar Wars, but I haven't read original Traveller yet. --MC바리반디 09:22, December 23, 2009 (UTC)

Rayel

Thanks very much for cleaning up Rayel, it was my first post in this wiki and I am still trying to get the formatting issues correct.

O and H codes for Vanguard Reaches sector data

There are O and H zone codes in the Vanguard Reaches Sector data. I'm guessing these are variants (like the Zhodani ones) for the usual A and R, perhaps coming from the data's origins with Paranoia Press. Any idea which corresponds to which? Thanks! (And if there's a more appropriate place to post this, please let me know... thanks!) Allens 17:25, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

I looked at the Galactic distribution, and it looks like these are for "Orthodox" and "Heretical" for the Eslyat. Now I just have to figure out "B" codes in Phlask and Lorspane sectors... Allens 13:45, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

Pages needing deletion - wiki spam

I've marked 3 pages as needing deletion, due to being varieties of wiki spam, as far as I can tell. Allens 19:52, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

I'm new to this WIKI business, and I hope I haven't messed up anything with the few contributions I've made so far.

Reggiemarx 00:15, March 11, 2011 (UTC)

Tjoneslo, someone is spamming all the pages. I think they edited the special template pages, specifically the planet infoboxes. The Undying 14:06, September 11, 2011 (UTC)

I've removed or reverted all the vandalism and blocked the users. Usually I think this is caused by a spam bot managing to leave pages mangled. Tjoneslo 02:32, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

Map generator

The map generator I used for Mintaka Subsector is http://travellermap.com/post.htm. I don't happen to know or possess any other generators. 77topaz 20:19, April 8, 2012 (UTC)

UWP changes

On TravellerMap, a number of worlds in the Spinward Marches have had their UWPs changed as part of T5 cleanup. Ones I can think of off the top of my head are Victoria, 457-973 and Mertactor, but there's probably more. Should or shouldn't these changes be reflected in the articles (which have been based on the earlier UWPs and could be considered semi-obsolete/incorrect if one agrees with the T5 changes)? 77topaz 21:22, April 15, 2012 (UTC)

I don't know where the exact discussions are, but "Don M" appears to know all the T5 changes. The webmaster of TravellerMap would too, probably. 77topaz 20:39, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

Hi,

Not sure if weapon images are appropriate as each of us will have different views on what the weapons actually look like. Maybe we could start a few pages to enable players and referees to showcase their designs. I used Pimp My Gun to create the weapons.

I was hoping to create an image of each weapon, that image being the base model designed by Instellarms. Later images would represent modifications to Instellarms basic model or designs by other arms manufacturers.

Slightly different specs woiuld be listed for each design and/or model.

Checking in

Hello,

I wanted to get in touch and see how things are going on your wiki. I am a staff member here at Wikia, and I noticed that your wiki was growing at a great rate but has slowed down recently. Did you run into an issue or is there something you need help with? We have lot of help on our community wiki, staff blog and in the help pages. We also run a monthly webinar series which you can find here. We will be focusing on how to create a great main page, so if you want to join next month you can register here. Growing a wiki can be a big endeavor, but it looks like you had a great start! Let me know any further help you may need so you can continue to be successful. Cheers, --Sarah<staff /> (help forum | blog) 17:20, October 2, 2012 (UTC)

Apparently you know how to edit the titles of articles and such here.? I am less capable.

One of the items I contributed -- Cirque Sirk Foundation, LLC -- apparently should be corrected to "Cirque duh Sirka, LLC" to be more correct.? Is there any chance you could either (a) tell me how to do it, or (b) just plain do it?? I can fixt text, but not titles, at least so far.

Thank you.

Gregory Lee.

The contributions pages here seem to have been "muddled up" a bit in the process of moving the wiki, since all my edits still exist, but my contribs page looks empty, and my preferences panel says I have 0 edits. 77topaz (talk) 00:39, 5 April 2013 (EDT)

Additionally, the more recent edits from the forum and talk pages also seem to have disappeared. 77topaz (talk) 00:40, 5 April 2013 (EDT)

Good to be Back

Very heartening to see the wiki back in all it's glory, and a better layout to boot rather than that imposed on us from Wikia - and add free as well. I'll resume my cartography shortly. One thing I have noticed is a couple of subsectors where the SubsectorWorlds2 template is producing odd results. I'll investigate that as well Imperial Grand Survey (talk) 22:58, 24 June 2013 (EDT)

I can fix the Rhylanor Subsector map easily enough. What I have also just noticed (astonishingly after all this time) is that the maps made by Rindis all have co-ordinates from 0101 to 0810, the same for each subsector. I have started at 0101 and gone to 3240 over the whole sector. I will do a quick audit and change them all where required. I'd already found the SectorWorlds template and worked out how it worked I'll fix those I find as I go. Imperial Grand Survey (talk) 02:13, 25 June 2013 (EDT)
Rhylanor is fixed and I have nearly sorted all of the Spinward Marches to show the standard coordinates. I will go through the other 2.5 sectors completed by Rindis and have them all uniform shortly Imperial Grand Survey (talk) 07:56, 27 June 2013 (EDT)

Can't seem to remember my PW

Yes, It's been a while... and password recovery does not seem to work. Should I establish a new log-on or is there a way you could help? ~sstefan~

If you have never logged into the wiki on this site (wiki.travellerrpg.com) you will need to create a new login. You can use your old name. You will also need to answer the captcha question. And if I remember how, I can reassign all your old edits to the new user. Remind me when you create your login. Tjoneslo (talk) 07:23, 15 August 2013 (EDT)

Thanks, once my schedule settles, I will log back on.. sstefan Oh what the hey.. logged in as Ssstefan (talk) 00:02, 7 November 2013 (EST)

Alphabetical Listing of Library Data for Campaign

What sort of code do I need to put on the Campaign:SBRD Reavers's Deep/Library page to automatically make an alphabetical listing of new Library pages as they are added?

I've looked at, for example, the Category:Help page which included such a listing of pages in that category, but when I click Edit to see how that was accomplished, there is nothing there other than the first line of the page.

My Referee:SBRD Reavers' Deep page has something like this, a listing of all subpages that I have made, but not in the same format - not the alphabetical listing, and also it includes the path info as well as the page name, where I'd rather just have the page names as I see on Category:Help.

Any suggestions?

Later - Thanks for all your help! Will tackle it again later and see if I can get things going as I'd like. SpaceBadger (talk) 14:33, 26 August 2013 (EDT)

Imagemap problem

Hi, I'm trying to make a rectangular imagemap according to the instructions at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Imagemap , but I still keep getting an error msg that I do not understand. The page I'm working on is http://wiki.travellerrpg.com/Campaign:SBRD_Reavers%27_Deep/Library/Map_Border_RD-Db - the map was displaying fine until I started trying to add an imagemap to make links to each subsector page from the map. Any suggestions? Thanks, SpaceBadger (talk) 01:08, 31 August 2013 (EDT)

One thing that is throwing me is that it says there is an error in line 3, but it seems to be line 4 that triggers the error (the line that starts w "rect"). If I remove line 4 it works fine; if I paste it back in, I get the error msg. SpaceBadger (talk) 01:17, 31 August 2013 (EDT)

Also, the error msg is "invalid title", but I've checked over the link I am attempting to use, and it works fine elsewhere. SpaceBadger (talk) 01:22, 31 August 2013 (EDT)

Seems to be working now that I changed the relative link [[../Link|Title]] to an absolute link beginning w the Campaign:SBRD etc - but I still have no idea why. Relative links just not allowed in imagemaps??? SpaceBadger (talk) 01:28, 31 August 2013 (EDT)

OK, working fine now, doing exactly what I wanted. I guess it just needed an absolute link rather than a relative link for some reason. SpaceBadger (talk) 01:50, 31 August 2013 (EDT)

Suggestion on naming Campaign sub-wikis

Now that I have been doing a lot of work on the sub-wiki for my campaign, I can see in hindsight that it would have been much better to have had a shorter name for it: just "SBRD" instead of "SBRD Reavers' Deep". With liberal use of relative links, there aren't that many places to type in the full campaign name, but just enough to be annoying. Also, since the full path, including the campaign name, shows up in any Category list, it would read much better if the name were shorter.

I'm happy to soldier on with mine as it is - just having this sub-Wiki available is a huge asset to my campaign! - but wanted to make the suggestion for future use, assuming others will want to follow along and use this tool for their campaigns.

(However... if there is some reasonably easy way for you to reset the path in my campaign to just SBRD, that would be quite welcome, despite the number of broken links I might have to fix!)

Thanks again for all of your help on this; I really like the way it is turning out!

SpaceBadger (talk) 03:59, 8 September 2013 (EDT)

Thanks, that would be amazingly helpful!

I'll shut down my open Wiki page right after I post this and not edit anything more until I hear the OK from you! SpaceBadger (talk) 01:14, 9 September 2013 (EDT)

May I Have Another Campaign Wiki, Please?

Could I have another Campaign Wiki, please?

Campaign name would be SBAS.

This would be for one or more of the new solo campaigns that I am beginning for pendragonman, flycatcher, Rooster Cogburn, and Spinward Scout.

The new setting is a slight ATU, building off of the OTU around 1115-ish, but with the discovery of a Jump Gate to a distant, new and unknown sector. Would probably be better not to mix that into the regular OTU Traveller Wiki, wouldn't you think?

Thanks again for enabling the Campaign Wiki for SBRD - it has been a huge help in getting the Players into the new setting.

Backup of Wiki data?

Is there some means for me to make a backup of everything in my SBRD campaign wiki?

Thanks.

Similar Wiki for not-really-Traveller game?

I am planning to run a new game for my kids here at home, possibly to be expanded to other players via PbP later, but it is only barely related to Traveller so I don't think I can run it here. It will be a mystery/detective game with some supernatural elements, using Traveller rules plus houserules, but I don't know if that is enough connection to run a campaign wiki here.

I have experimented with the Wiki at Obsidian Portal, but maybe I am spoiled by the excellent facility you provide here, as I am finding myself disappointed in many aspects of that wiki by comparison.

Two questions, I guess: 1) Is the use of Traveller rules enough of a connection to allow use of a campaign wiki here? 2) If not, do you have any suggestions for some other wiki I could use that works somewhat like what you have set up here in the Traveller wiki?

Thanks, SpaceBadger (talk) 04:31, 20 October 2014 (EDT)

Thanks, Thomas. Sounds like I need to look at Wikia. SpaceBadger (talk) 00:56, 21 October 2014 (EDT)
