Urkesh supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. This world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions make it dangerous to visitors. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Kuriishe Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Urkesh, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Makugpaa.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)

The surface of Urkesh has been extensively terraformed in order to conform to the whims of Lance Ak'var, the CEO of RecreStation. As a result, the somewhat too perfect rock formations, the grass which is constantly the same shade of green and the seas which, throughout the resort area, remain at a pleasing thirty degrees Celsius all appear to be too perfect, unnaturally so.

Urkesh is a member of the Sylean Main.

Mainworld Data

World Starport (Sp)

Umnudar has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Size (S)

Umnudar is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

World Atmosphere (A)

Umnudar has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

World Hydrosphere (H)

Umnudar has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

World Population (P)

Umnudar has a population of 10 sophonts (tens).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without significant outside assistance. This may represent a transient population such as the crew of a starship, the final survivors of a dying colony, an advance team setting up to receive colonists, or a small outpost where establishing a colony is not the primary objective.
World Government (G)

Umnudar is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.

World Law Level (L)

Umnudar has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)

Umnudar possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

Imperial Landed Nobility (N)

Umnudar, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.

History & Background (Dossier)

At any one time the planet's resident population consist of exactly seventy-one employees. Lance Ak’var is a strong believer in a pseudo-scientific theory which stipulates the importance of key numbers, colours, and sounds to create the perfect business environment. As such, there have occasionally been times when people have been asked to leave the planet before their vacation had finished due to "Upsetting the synchronistic harmony of Urkesh."

Employees themselves also have to conform fully to Lance Ak'var's ideals. Before an employee is accepted they must undergo a year of training in which they learn both the way in which they play a part in the planetary harmony and how to exist such that they are always happy and ready to attend to a guest’s needs.
