History & Background (Dossier)

The story of urbs or cities is the story of sophontic civilization. Cities bring about and focus the striving of a sophont specie's efforts to master their environment, overcome their creature competitors, and climb the ladder of technology levels. But, along with population density comes not only opportunity and increased exchange of ideas and trade, but... increased crime, population pressure, and increasing social hierarchies. Not only can progress be found in the urb, but also the possibility of societal doom. [3]

Still, to the captain of a star wandering free trader, the urb is the most likely place to go to find fame and fortune. Or at the very least, unload the cargo hold of trade goods... and hopefully get something of value in return. [4]
