The United States Space Force once served the forces of Terra.

Description (Specifications)

The United States Space Force was the space-faring arm of the military of the United States of America faction of Terra's Balkanized Government prior to the United Nations consolidating its rule. As the nations of Terra were slowly assimilated, so too were their military forces.

Famously, the USSF coordinated and commanded the expedition to Barnard's Star in -2422 that resulted in (official) first contact with the Vilani, though the mission was officially conducted with the approval of the United Nations Space Coordination Agency and involved crew from several other parts of Terra's population.

It was officially founded in -2500. By all accounts this was a complete coincidence, with no foreknowledge of the Third Imperium on its founders' part, nor was Cleon I thinking of it when founding the Third Imperium. That said, some sophonts naturally see linkages in the exactness of the number of years between the two events, and claim the Third Imperium has inherited some of the USSF's qualities. (Much of the claimed "inheritance" is common to most professional and/or military spacefaring groups through the ages.)
