Tractor/Pressors are are electronics-based gravitic manipulators. Each is capable of applying an acceleration towards ("pull") or away ("push") from the emplacement. Each is also capable of applying a percentage of lateral pressure.

Emplacement[edit]

Tractor/Pressors are classified as beam weapons. They can be installed in barbette or larger emplacements. They cannot be installed in turrets.

Availablility[edit]

They are available at mature tech level 16 worlds.

Range[edit]

At TL 16, they are limited to very distant range (50 km) or less. Each subsequent TL increases its range. They can reach Geosynch at TL 19.

Modes[edit]

Standard Mode[edit]

The Weapon function of Tractor Pressor creates a violent shaking motion which destroys components.

Tractor Mode[edit]

The Tractor Pressor can attach to an object and hold it in place; effectively locking the Tractor and its Target at a specific Range (typically Boarding Range).

Tractor Mode has industrial value: for example, asteroids may be held in place for working.

Anti-Missile Mode[edit]

The Tractor Pressor in Anti-Missile Mode deflects incoming missile attacks by diverting their courses.

Large Pressors could be used to alter the trajectory of asteroids.

Defenses[edit]

Slick[edit]

A coating of gravitic circuitry provides protection against the influence of tractors and pressors.
