Thele is a rich, agricultural garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Firstworlds in the Natar Subsector of Far Home Sector.
- This world-system hosts a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.
- It is one of the New Members of the Firstworlds
Description / Astrography & Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- The Thele system is a part of the Risa Cluster.

System Data
Chamlac-Thele System
The primary is Chamlac, a yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.994 Sols, a mass of 1 Sol, and a diameter of 1.366 million km. The inner system consists of (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world – orbital positions (I) and (III) are empty. (IV) Sylus, a corrosive atmosphere inferno world orbits within the habitable zone: (IVa) Thele is its binary companion. (V) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, (VI) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (VII-I) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (VII-II) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Manasar Subsystem
The companion is Manasar, an ordinary red main sequence star that orbits Chamlac at 270 AU (orbital position (XIII), 40 billion km) and has an orbital period of 4,436 years. It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols, and a diameter of 764,000 km. (I) a sparse icy planetoid belt lies within the habitable zone. (II) a vacuum iceworld forms the outer system. The iceworld retains no satellites.
(IV) Sylus
(IV) Sylus (UWP F9B0413-9) is the major component of the Sylus-Thele binary planet system and is designated an inferno world. It orbits Chamlac at a mean distance of 1.04 AU (155.6 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 22 days: it is tidally locked to Thele. The axial tilt is 12 degrees. Sylus has a diameter of 15,135 km, a density of 5.77 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.24 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Thele, its binary companion world, cause frequent geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Corrosive, with a mean surface pressure of 68.65 bar and a composition of 93% carbon dioxide (CO2), 6% nitrogen (N2), and 1% sulfur dioxide (SO2), argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon monoxide (CO), azane (NH3) and other trace gases. The world has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: 243°C. The atmosphere is very active and violent weather systems driven by the star scour the globe. The climate is static.
Mainworld Data
(IVb) Thele
(IVb) Thele is the minor component of the Sylus-Thele binary planet system and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean separation of world at a mean distance of 25 diameters (380,000 km): it is tidally locked to Sylus. The axial tilt is 16 degrees relative to Sylus. Thele has a diameter of 10,384 km, a density of 5.43 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.80 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Sylus cause frequent geological activity. The atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 0.82 bar and a composition of 78% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Around 74% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.5m. Mean surface temperature: 18°C. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems driven by the star and the oceans sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
- Sylus and Thele orbit a barycenter lying approximately 12 diameters from Sylus and have an orbital period around one another of 5 days 3 hours.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 339 million km², Water surface area: 251 million km², Land surface area: 88 million km².
Native Lifeforms
Thele, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (V) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

World Starport
Thele has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Technology Level
Thele possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government
Thele is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.
World Military
UWP: B667786-9 TL–9, Port Capacity 80,000 dTons. It has a Military Base with the following troop strength:
Troop Strength: Army: 150 Battalions organized into three Corps, Marines: 15 Battalions in three Marine Regiments
The military use locally manufactured Thele Class Tracked ATVs.
The System Defense Fleet consists of:
