The Tembo class Destroyer is a light warship.

Description (Specifications)

Built on Yedidah (world) prior to the revolt. This design serves with the Khan World League fleet. It is a fully streamlined drab green hull consists of two flattened hemispheres (disks/saucers), which intersect at 90 degrees. One disk forms the hull and lateral wings, the other form a vertical and ventral fin/sail structure. The hull is fitted with fuel scoops and on board fuel purification for ocean refueling. Two engine nacelles are embedded, one in each wing. These drive modules incorporate the scoops, refineries, the massive power plants, and smaller jump drives and maneuver drives. At the front of each drive pod in in wing are the two lateral particle accelerator weapon arrays. The admiralty felt that these 100 ton bays were the premiere TL–9 ship killing weapons. Their massive energy requirements, necessitated the oversized power plants; almost 86% of all available power feeds into these two weapon bays. The rest of the drive space volume left the maneuver drives gutted. Capable of jump 1, with enough fuel tankage for two jumps, it can only manage 1 G acceleration. Many of the local citizens see their slow approach as menacing and ominous. The model 3 computer is a civilian design and doesn’t include the military grade fiber optic backups, which most navies consider standard. The computer’s power draw means the design has no agility. All defensive countermeasures were removed as well to make room for as many marine bunks as would fit. The 290 marines deploy when the ship's forward ramp drops. They lack reentry packages, and have neither the vehicles or sub craft, sufficient to conduct assault landings, nor recovery. The Ship’s captain must select the landing sites very carefully, lest the journey become one way. System defenses and ground fire must be considered very carefully. These ships have been in service for a long time and some are beginning to show their age.
