A Battle Tender or Fleet Tender is an starship transport intended to carry Battle Riders into combat. Generally a dispersed structure, it transports a squadron of battle riders ready for immediate launch upon entry into a system. While the riders press the attack, the tender stays in the reserve for protection.

Fleet Tenders
Interstellar ship transport intended to carry battle riders into combat. Generally a dispersed structure (of up to one million tons), it transports a Battle Squadron (BatRon) of two to ten battle riders ready for immediate launch upon entry into a system. While the riders press the attack, the tender stays in reserve for protection.
Fleet tender is a generic term used for ships carrying combat oriented spaceships. There are two major type of tenders. The first type are those designed to carry large warships, such as battle riders. The other tender type carries SDBs and/or fighters, but lack the large weapon systems organic to carriers. While this makes them much cheaper to build, man, and operate, it also makes them much more vulnerable.

There are 2 types of ship which use this term- battle rider carriers, probably better referred to as such, and repair support services providers. Historically, ships which attend to maintence and repair are often referred to as tenders, and ships which carry other ships are carriers. I suggest that the matter be adddress with renaming to disambiguate the matter.

- The term "Fleet Tender" has a specific meaning within Traveller. that of the battle rider carrier (See TCS whence the term and article comes). I'd suggest calling the second a "Ship tender" or "Mobile space dock". Then link the two articles.

There are several semi-conflicting articles that should be straightened out. Battle Tender, Fleet tender, Fleet Tender, and Ship tender. There is also the Express Boat Tender which is a different type.
