The inner four worlds are all small, hot vacuum bodies of less than Size 4. The world orbiting at 1.81 AU has a high eccentricity and is changing its mean orbital distance faster than any other body in the system.

The Inner Belt - a shattered world destroyed no later than 200,000 years ago - lies at 2.93 AU and is designated as the mainworld. The largest body within the belt is the still hot nickel-iron core of the former world - this entire region of the belt is designated as off limits.

A little more than half the belt is controlled by (an as yet unnamed) corporation that doesn't like freelancers, while the remainder is open to anyone willing to spend the time searching the floating boulders for minerals. The two small binary worlds orbiting at 2.41 AU are the shattered planets former moons.

The large gas giant lying at 5.46 AU has four large moons and significant groups of Trojan asteroids lying 60° ahead of and 60° behind its orbit - settlements and refineries are located among them. A large exotic atmosphere world with two small moons lies at 11.3 AU.

An icy asteroid belt named the Outer Belt lies at 19.8 AU - it too appears to be a shattered world, an icy superterran or possibly a medium-sized gas giant destroyed around 250,000 years ago. The three small worlds orbiting close to it are unbound moons that are increasing their orbital distances from the star.

The outer fringe of the system is marked by two small ice giant worlds and their satellites, orbiting at 55.5 AU and 78.1 AU respectively.

The system is unstable and the worlds and bodies within it are eccentric and shifting their orbits - the current AU distances of worlds are different to when the First Survey was carried out in the 300s. Although the system has currently found an equilibrium of kinds, it is believed that within the coming millennia a catastrophic restructuring will occur.

Restricted regions - believed to contain Ancients artifacts, though there is no official acknowledgement of this - are patrolled by Imperial Navy vessels and access is extremely limited. Scout Service survey ships are known to occasionally operate alongside the navy.

Academics generally agree that the system originally contained a rocky world and its satellites within the habitable zone, five secondary worlds, and four gas giants. (Or, depending on the original nature of the world that formed the Outer Belt, six secondary worlds and three gas giants).

The 50,000 year gap between the destruction of the outer world and the destruction of the inner world has not yet been satisfactorily explained.

It has been pointed out that both the shattered worlds have (theoretically) had sufficient time to clear their orbital paths and reform into planets, but that some process appears to be preventing this from happening. Speculation ranges from the disrupting presence of the former moons to the continuing effects of the weapons that destroyed the worlds.
