Given the somewhat "august" name of this order (and its implied personal reference to the Emperor), and since all land-grants associated with Knighthoods in the Order of the Iridium Throne are located on worlds in Core Sector (i.e. in relative close proximity to His Imperial Majesty), and the award was apparently given out by Marc W Miller primarily (I believe) to those who had purchased and/or been part of the T5 play-test (thus showing personal support and service to Marc as he was developing T5), I would think this order represents a distinguished order associated with personal service to the crown in some fashion. In this regard, it may be somewhat similar to the British Royal Victorian Order:
