Notes (2023[edit]

I submitted data to the map outlining the borders of the established Leonidae polities, Kargol Confederation, Dynchia Comitia, and Harodar Hegemony. My reasoning on the choices made:

Dynchia Comitia:

Since Melantris was on the map already, this was easy. I included a few systems with military bases and a coreward naval base to watch the Harodar, and kept them in subsectors K, L, O, and P, where the wiki already suggested they were found. Melantris itself already has a naval depot. We might want to tweak a few government types, though, since Dynchia are said to like oligarchy.

Some of the system names along the coreward reach of Leonidae, along with the lack of starports and populations, suggests that the Dynchia and Ithklur had a great merry time fighting back and forth in the area before their Hiver-negotiated peace.

Kargol Confederation:

We're told that 14 worlds are part of this polity. Leonidae has a lot of unpopulated systems but there are enough inhabited worlds within -- and in proximity to -- subsector B (where Kargol is located according to GURPS Humaniti) to make up the count. Several systems have naval facilities, especially agricultural worlds; I assigned many of these to the Kargol (two have the Kargol polity code but aren't within their colour border, since it was pointed out to me that highlighting every individual world makes a bit of an eyesore).

Two systems had their name changed: Shan's Landing (Kargol's Solomani partner world) was said to be a parsec from Kargol; given Kargol's placement (I'll get to that in a minute), that would make Ilurda (1105) Shan's Landing, so I changed it. It works quite nicely, since a nearby system is already called "Gandy's Luck", so the new name isn't out of place. Oh, those eager gung-ho Solomani. I also changed 0810 to Thosta -- the Thosta System asteroids are mentioned in the Kargol backstory, so I selected an asteroidal system near to the Kargol worlds. As for Kargol itself... the source material positions it at 1205. There's no star there, however. But at 1106 (only a hex away) is Nusakan, a high-population system with a naval base. And it's also a parsec from Shan's Landing. Nusakan, then, can be the new Kargol? If approved, we'll need to change the system name. I'd also recommend tweaking government codes, since Kargol like democracies.

Harodar Hegemony:

We're told that this polity is located coreward of Melantris within Leonidae, and that Third Imperium contact with the Dynchia came through the Hegemony -- we're also told that the Hegemony has fought occasional wars with the Dynchia. This is all we know.

I situated the Harodar Hegemony in Lombard Subsector, at the worlds Idunukagaka (2013), Iknugagaka (2014), and Ilnuhagaka (2015). Not only are these three worlds situated next to one another, their similar names suggest a shared heritage, and they're coreward of the Dynchia, closer to the Imperium. Ilnuhagaka is a high-population world with an A-class starport and a naval base, thus suitable as a polity capital/homeworld capable of force projection; the other two worlds are an agricultural settlement and a thinly-populated world between the other two systems, presumably colonised to secure the link between them.

Notes (2019)[edit]

Kargol (world) will need to be added.
