System Data

Tesek-Talamis System

The primary is Tesek, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.778 Sols, a mass of 0.956 Sols and a diameter of 1.30 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet, and (II) a trace atmosphere worldlet. (III) Talamis orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a small gas giant, (V) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VI) a large gas giant, (VII) a large gas giant, and (VIII) a exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Many of the large worlds retain satellites.

Tarand Subsystem

The companion is Tarand, a red subdwarf star lying approximately 3,220 AU from Tesek. It has a luminosity of 0.00006 Sols, a mass of 0.058 Sols and a diameter of 87,700 million km. (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a small gas giant, (III) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (IV) a sparse icy planetoid belt, and (V) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Only the gas giant retains satellites.

(III) Talamis

(III) Talamis is designated the mainworld. It orbits Talamis at a mean distance of 0.68 AU (101.7 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 209 days 11 hours and a rotation period of 19 hours. The axial tilt is 156 degrees. Talamis has a diameter of 11,087 km, a density of 5.45 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.86 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 2.33 bar and a composition of 69% nitrogen (N₂), 29% oxygen (O₂), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% carbon dioxide (CO₂), water vapor (H₂O), ozone (O₃), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the high percentage of atmospheric oxygen. Approximately 94% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.35m. Mean surface temperature: 11°C. The atmosphere is very active and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the oceans surge across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Talamis retains a single natural satellite, a vacuum worldlet named Turuman:

Mainworld Geography and Topography

Total surface area: 386 million km², Water surface area: 363 million km², Land surface area: 23 million km².

• Breathing the atmosphere without suitable filtration equipment will cause oxygen narcosis and oxygen toxicity. Symptoms include sensations of euphoria and nausea, seizures, bouts of physical rigidity followed by convulsions and unconsciousness, breathing difficulties, damage to the lungs and the heart, and death.

Native Lifeforms

Talamis, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Talamis has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
