TNS 1122

Date: 001-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

Emperor Strephon delivered his Holiday address from the Iridium Throne today, emphasizing the renewed strength of the Third Imperium.

¶ "Ten years ago, I resolved to take decisive steps to pull our Imperium together, giving it new strength and a new sense of purpose. Even in my position, one always risks error when one tries to chart trends affecting so many worlds at once. Yet I believe there has been considerable success.

¶ "Some measure of that success can be seen in the relatively quiet times we enjoy. Few people notice the crisis that fails to happen. Yet I can point to at least four events in the last decade which might have shocked our Imperium to its foundations had they gone differently. That they failed to do so is due to the dedicated effort of billions of Imperial citizens, from the highest to the lowest rank.

¶ "Specific thanks are due to our Archdukes, notably Archduke Isis of Ilelish, Archduke Norris of Deneb, and Archduke Adair of Sol. Each of these has worked tirelessly and with glorious success to defend our Imperium and keep it strong.

¶ "Yet my family and the Archdukes could never hold the Imperium together alone. Often, when a crime is committed or the first signs of crisis appear, the man on the scene is an ordinary citizen, a being who seeks nothing more than to survive and prosper as an individual. Yet the actions of these ordinary citizens, these voyagers on the starlanes, more often than not hold chaos at bay. Our Imperial ideals of loyalty, integrity, and initiative continue to bear fruit among the trillions of Imperial citizens.

¶ "With such examples before us, we will continue. We will continue with confidence and resolve, knowing that our Imperium is a durable institution. We will continue, maintaining both our talent for innovation and our great respect for tradition. We will continue into the future, that undiscovered country to which no man can avoid travelling in the fullness of time." Ω

Date: 009-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ It was learned today that Doctor Ganidiirsi Simalr resigned his membership in the Tuday Club, effective the day before his wedding to Grand Princess Ciencia Iphegenia. Membership in the highly exclusive society is limited to 144 "sophonts of the highest scientific or artistic achievement," and is by invitation only.

¶ Meeting every other Tuday for dinner and a lecture by one of the members, the society is most famous for its annual Holiday Fete (held on 123 of each year, for reasons which remain a secret), during which prominent members of Imperial society and government are lampooned in a short musical review written and performed by members. No official comment has been issued, merely the statement by Doctor Simalr's seneschal that the Doctor had not taken an active role in society meetings or (or the Fete) for many years, and felt his new schedule would not have time for such frivolities. Ω

Date: 020-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ Controversial author Jamison Melendez-Kyzl claims he has evidence in the disappearance of Jeffrey Long. Long, a former reporter for the Phoenix Sun news organization (headquartered on Terra (Solomani Rim 1827), is the author of a series of articles on a condition known as 'hyperspace sickness," evidence for which Long alleges has been suppressed by a military and industrial cabal. In 1118, Long vanished from a private mental health facility where he had been undergoing treatment for an unspecified mental disorder.

¶ Melendez-Kyzl claims to have discovered evidence that Long's disappearance is the result of a plot by an Imperium-wide cabal of government and industrial officials to discredit the reporter, and reveals this evidence in his latest book Manufactured Madness, to be released later this month. Ω

Date: 025-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ The first major social event of the year will be the 110th birthday celebration of Countess Vienna Amalfi Zirunkaar of Quildhac, to be held at Matuschanski Memorial Hall on the campus of the Karbiili School on 027-1123. The Countess is a former instructor at the school, and is being feted by the Karbiili Alumni Association, a group whose membership roster represents a surprising number of the movers and shakers in the Imperial peerage, including such luminaries as Grand Princess Ciencia Iphegenia and Duchess Isis of Illelish. While over 2,000 are expected at the grand ball in her honor, the Countess has requested that the guest list for the dinner party earlier in the evening be limited to 180, and this has caused invitations to the dinner to be the most highly sought after commodity on Capital.

¶ The countess is most famous for her outspoken commentary on Imperial society and government, and is widely known as a source of inside information on the highest noble families, the Imperial family included.

¶ "I had a special sofa made many years ago," she once said, "with two spaces -- one embroidered with the family crest for me. The other spot is embroidered with the legend "If you have nothing good to say, come and sit by me." Ω

Date: 030-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ Professor Julian Trane, distinguished interstellar historian, announced today that he will extend his stay on Capital, both because of the popularity of his advanced seminars at the University of Sylea, and because his studies in the Imperial archives have taken longer than he originally anticipated.

¶ Professor Trane's researches deal with the cyclical nature of historical trends, and his researches have proven especially fruitful. According to a press release issued today by the professor, "I have uncovered historical trends from the Civil War Era that have relevance to today's Imperium." Professor Trane refused to elaborate, and declined to answer if his researches are related in any way to Emperor Strephon's Holiday address and its references to recent events. "Everything will become clear when I publish," he said. Ω

Date: 036-1123Ilelish (Ilelish 2907)[edit]

¶ The last of seven Suerrat protestors convicted of disorderly conduct and incitement to riot in 1119 were released after serving their terms in the Anitarra Penitentiary. The seven exhausted their appeals in 1120, and began serving their terms after the highest judicial review of their case refused to overturn their convictions, and confirmed the convictions and the sentences.

¶ The Seven Suerrat were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and refusing to obey an order to disperse in connection with a demonstration that took place in front of Anitarra's Government House on 173-1118. The Suerrat, appalled at what they believe to be a deliberate attempt by the Imperium to absorb and weaken the unique culture of their homeworld, accused the Imperium and the Archduchess of Ilelish of "Cultural Genocide" were demonstrating against the growing use of Galanglic as a first language among the youth of their homeworld. Ω

Date: 044-1123Dlan (Ilelish 1021)[edit]

¶ Investigators for the Imperial Ministry of Justice reported today that a number of individuals on Dlan and elsewhere were arrested for plotting to assassinate the Archduchess of Ilelish. Officials acted before the plan could be put into operation, moving on information from agents inside the alleged conspiracy, and made the arrests on Dlan and other worlds. The MoJ spokesman had no details, other than to say that at least one of the arrestees was a Suerrat.

¶ The archduchess would not comment on the arrests, other than to say that the MoJ had kept her and her security staff completely informed at every stage. Ω

Date: 049-1123Dlan (Ilelish 1021)[edit]

¶ The Imperial Ministry of Justice reported today that although seven of the nine individuals arrested for plotting the assassination of the Archduchess of Ilelish were ethnic Suerrat, there is no evidence that the plotters were pursuing any formal Suerrat political agenda.

¶ "We feel that their ethnicity is coincidental to the plot," MoJ spokesman stated in a press release earlier this morning. "We are unable to state with any certainty why they wished to kill the Archduchess, but we are continuing to investigate the matter."

¶ The office of the Archduchess declined to comment, saying that it would be premature to make any statement while the investigation is still in its preliminary stages. Ω

¶ In a press release datelined 268-1122, Imperial Navy Public relations officer Lieutenant Hollis haut-Melisande announced that the Fleet Exercises in Zarushagaar will commence next week, and conclude with a mock invasion of this system on 360-1122. Ω

Date: 072-1123Boskone (Solomani Rim 1214)[edit]

¶ Sources in Boskone announced that a vessel passing through the system discovered the abandoned far trader Helena Concorda, a Marava-class Far Trader reported overdue in 1059 after departing Huy Braseal (Solomani Rim 2910).

¶ No further details are available at this time, but the vessel is presumed to have misjumped into the Boskone system and remained undiscovered there for over six decades. Ω

Date: 079-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

Boskone officials investigating the evident misjump of the far trader Helena Concorda, reported that a salvage party discovered no one on board. The vessel had no damage, and jump and maneuver drives were intact. Fuel tanks were empty, consistent with the consumption of fuel accompanying a full jump. Food and consumables stocks aboard were slightly depleted, but not below emergency levels. The low berths were found to be fully functional, but empty.

¶ Officials have sent to Huy Braseal (Solomani Rim 2910) in an effort to uncover more details about the ship's flight plan and manifest. Ω

Date: 089-1123Dlan (Ilelish 1021)[edit]

Kana Wendemere, daughter of Sir Aella Wendemere, announced today that she will be continuing The Benasi Papers, Sir Aella's nineteen book series chronicling the adventures of a Terran family in the early years of the Second Imperium. Ω

Date: 112-1123Terra (Solomani Rim 1827)[edit]

Date: 125-1123Excalibur (Spinward Marches 1225)[edit]

¶ The Imperial Interstellar Scout Service and the government of Excalibur announced today that rumors of the discovery of Ancient artifacts on the third moon of Excalibur are completely false. "There are some fascinating finds here, which we will report on in good time," said Baron Arvin Hault-Devros, IISS liaison to Excalibur's government, "but there are no Ancient artifacts here."

¶ "Treasure hunters from all over the sector are flocking to the system," Hault-Devros continued, "and Excalibur's security forces are strained to their limits dealing with these unwelcome visitors. This has got to stop." Ω

Date: 137-1123Dlan (Ilelish 1021)[edit]

¶ In an anonymous letter to the Dlan offices of the TNS, Archduchess Isis of Ilelish was accused of the murder of her uncle, Hutara Astrin Ilethian. Ilethian, an ex-admiral of the Imperial Navy, died after a lengthy hospitalization for a stroke he suffered on 245-1118, but the letter claims that he was drugged on orders of the Archduchess.

¶ The archduchess' seneschal would say only that the letter is so ludicrous as to deserve no response. Ω

Date: 156-1123Home (Aldebaran 1009)[edit]

¶ One of the first actions of the provisional government of Jan Malikov was the expulsion of TNS correspondents from the Solomani capital. Since that time, reliable news has been hard to come by, but rumors persist that various members of Secretary-General Marc Chissano's government have been sighted either on Home or on a nearby world.

¶ One of the more persistent rumors is that Chissano himself is being held incommunicado by Malikov's security forces, and will soon be charged with war crimes. Ω

Date: 165-1123Excalibur (Spinward Marches 1225)[edit]

¶ Treasure hunters in the Excalibur system have come to blows, according to the government of Excalibur. Two teams, hunting for Ancient artifacts on the third moon of Excalibur in defiance of the Red Zone interdiction of the moon by the government of Excalibur and the IISS, allegedly engaged in a firefight with each other.

¶ Baron Arvin Hault-Devros, IISS liaison to Excalibur's government, declined to give details, except to say that the surviving members of both parties were in government custody. Ω

Date: 175-1123Mora (Spinward Marches 3124)[edit]

Elane Shankarr Muudashir, Matriarch and Duchess of Mora, was formally confirmed as Sector Duchess of the Spinward Marches in a conclave of the sector's electors. There were rumors that one of the subsector dukes in the Spinward Marches would call for a vote of no confidence, but this did not materialize, and Duchess Elane's election was achieved after a single ballot, according to a joint press release issued by the members of the conclave.

¶ The office of Archduke Norris immediately issued a statement of congratulations to the young duchess, and quoted Norris as saying that "We have no reason to think that the Emperor will fail to confirm this election, and look forward to working with Dame Elane for many years to come." Ω

Date: 179-1123Mora (Spinward Marches 3124)[edit]

¶ A few days after the confirmation of Duchess Elane Shankarr Muudashir of Mora as sector Duke of the Spinward Marches, the office of Archduke Norris of Deneb announced that Duchess Elane had been inducted into the Order of Deneb as a Companion. The rank in the order held by her aunt, the late Duchess Delphine of Mora, was Knight of the Order, a rank reserved for senior members of the order.

¶ The archduke's staff refused to comment when asked why Duchess Elane had not been given the same rank as her aunt, but a local expert in such things postulated that Delphine was given the higher standing because of her age and seniority in the sector, and was not a reflection on the new Duchess. Ω

Date: 192-1123Terra (Solomani Rim 1827)[edit]

¶ In a press release issued today, Marchioness Alessandra Da Silva of Terra announced she has agreed to be the chairwoman of the search committee to choose a sculptor for a commemorative statue to honor the Empress Iolanthe. Terra's premier artists are expected to submit designs for the work, which will be housed in a special memorial garden located on land donated by the SPA of Phoenix Downport. Ω

Date: 204-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ Unofficial word reached Capital today that Duchess Margaret of Delphi and her husband Count Blaine Trulla Tukera of Alekvadin are expecting their first child. The time delay from Delphi Sector is such that the Duchess has undoubtedly given birth by this time, but the news has not had time to arrive here at Captital. Ω

Date: 214-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ In a proclamation issued today, the Emperor formally confirmed the election of Elane Shankarr Muudashir, Matriarch and Duchess of Mora as Sector Duchess of the Spinward Marches. Ω

Date: 219-1123Terra (Solomani Rim 1827)[edit]

¶ Marchioness Alessandra Da Silva of Terra announced, through her seneschal, that her search committee has chosen a sculptor for a commemorative statue to honor the Empress Iolanthe. The winning design was submitted by Alexander Liu Pratt, of Cairo, who plans to execute the work in bronze using classical techniques.

¶ Marchioness Alessandra announced she will invite the Empress to return to Terra to unveil the finished work. Ω

Date: 221-1123Dimmurak (Solomani Rim 1111)[edit]

¶ Police today discovered an undetonated bomb is a secure warehouse facility at Shadulammur Downport. The weapon was defused and removed by EOD units without casualties or property damage, but a spokesmen for the government said that "It was a close run thing -- tragedy was narrowly averted by the heroic action of our Colonel Wu-Lan Jarvis and his EOD team. The weapon contained enough explosive material to severely damage the highport, and the loss of life had it been detonated would have been catastrophic."

¶ No word is available who assembled the bomb or what purpose it was to have served. Ine Givar involvement is suspected because of evidence discovered at the scene, but the police on Dimmurak believe this may have been planted to mislead investigators. Ω

Date: 224-1123Dlan (Ilelish 1021)[edit]

¶ A body found in suspicious circumstances three days ago has been identified through DNA as that of Colonel Hiroshi Enera, which presents a problem for law enforcement officials both on Dlan and on Medurma (Dagudashaag 2124). Medurman police reported that Colonel Enera was allegedly murdered in a Medurman hotel on 240-1117.

¶ Enera, former commander of the Ilelish Regiment of the Imperial Guard, resigned shortly after Archduke Dulinor's death in 1116 and was en route to his native world of Dlan. It is believed by some that the Ministry of Justice and the Imperial Navy felt there might be a connection between the murder of Colonel Enera in 1117 and the murder of Archduke Dulinor, but nothing came of the investigation, and it was dropped some time ago. The recent discovery calls the Medurman investigation into question, and a re-evaluation of the evidence in both cases will no doubt be undertaken. Ω

Date: 228-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

Duchess Margaret of Delphi has given birth to a daughter, Ardythe Margaret Alkhalikoi Tukera, named after the duchess' mother, and her husband's grandmother, Ardythe Fratelli Tukera. The child is Emperor Strephon's distant relative (Duchess Margaret is his cousin), and the Emperor is expected to send a personal message of congratulations within a few days. Ω

Date: 234-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ High society in Capital is abuzz with the rumor that Prince Lucan Alkhalikoi, currently on duty as a junior lieutenant with the staff of Zarushagar Fleet, is engaged to be married to a fellow officer. The Imperial Palace refuses to confirm or deny the rumors, and would not comment on any of the several names for the alleged-bride-to-be.

¶ Prince Lucan has been on active service for several years, and by all reports plans to make the Navy his career. Ω

Date: 237-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ The mystery of the far trader Helena Concorda continues to confound investigators in both Boskone (Solomani Rim 1214) and Huy Braseal (Solomani Rim 2910) systems. The abandoned far trader was reported overdue in 1059 after departing Huy Braseal, and was discovered drifting in Boskone's belt by a transient vessel.

¶ After an investigation lasting several weeks, including examination of the ship's flight plan and manifest, no further light was shed on the ship's evident misjump. Ω

Date: 244-1123Medurma (Dagudashaag 2124)[edit]

Ministry of Justice investigators believe that the body discovered in a Medurman hotel on 240-1117 was not that of Colonel Hiroshi Enera, former commander of the Ilelish Regiment of the Imperial Guard, resigned in 1116, shortly after Archduke Dulinor's death.

¶ MoJ officials believe that medical records were altered to substitute false data for the real DNA of Colonel Enera, possibly to allow Enera to disappear and assume another identity.

¶ Investigators with the MoJ and IN felt there might be a connection between the murder of Colonel Enera in 1117 and the murder of Archduke Dulinor, but nothing came of the investigation, and it was dropped some time ago. An MoJ spokesman said the recent discoveries have caused the original investigation of a possible connection between the Enera and Dulinor murders to be re-opened. Ω

Date: 251-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ The Imperial Palace has finally issued a press release formally announcing the engagement Prince Lucan Alkhalikoi, to junior lieutenant Tabitha Alonithen hault-Bennas, a staff officer of the Zarushagar Fleet.

¶ No date has been announced for the wedding, but highly-placed sources in the palace indicated that there will probably not be time for the couple to return to Capital in time for a Holiday wedding. Ω

Date: 256-1123Home (Aldebaran 1009)[edit]

¶ Reliable news from the Solomani capital continues to be scarce, but TNS reporters on other worlds have pieced together reports that former Secretary-General Marc Chissano either escaped or eluded capture by the provisional government of Jan Malikov earlier this year.

¶ Malikov's government has never commented on Chissano one way or the other, but has unofficially "leaked" that Chissano is in custody on Home, and that he will be eventually be tried as a war criminal.

¶ The new information that Chissano is at large brings up the possibility that the unrest in the Solomani Rim may continue. Ω

Date: 258-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ The Imperial Palace announced today that the wedding of Prince Lucan Alkhalikoi, to junior lieutenant Tabitha Alonithen hault-Bennas will be held on the INS Thylaciness, flagship of the Zarushagar Fleet, on 120-1124.

¶ The wedding will be a non-sectarian ceremony, and will be performed by Fleet Admiral Sir Jopeth Hrothgar hault-Kurshar, C.R.A., commander of the Zarushagar Fleet. Ω

Date: 269-1123Mora (Spinward Marches 3124)[edit]

¶ Political observers in the Marches are speculating about a recent proclamation issued by Duchess Elane Shankarr Muudashir of Mora. The proclamation itself is less important than is the duchess' signature, however. In it, she includes "Companion of the Order of Deneb" in the list of formal titles granted to her, something her aunt, the late Duchess Delphine of Mora, never did.

¶ Observers wonder if this minor action might indicate a thawing in the decidedly chilly relationship between the Duchy of Mora and the Archduchy of Deneb. Archduke Norris and the late Duchess Delphine had a rivalry that lasted nearly a decade, from the time of the Fifth Frontier War to the latter's death. Duchess Elane's use of the title granted her by Norris indicates she might be attempting to patch things up. Ω

Date: 273-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ It was learned today that the membership in the organization known as the Tuday Club vacated by the resignation of Doctor Ganidiirsi Simalr was filled almost immediately by a "very high-ranking noble" whose identity remains a closely-guarded secret.

¶ Meeting every other Tuday for dinner and a lecture by one of the members, the society is most famous for its annual Holiday Fete (held on 123 of each year, for reasons which remain a secret), during which prominent members of Imperial society and government are lampooned in a short musical review written and performed by members.

¶ Membership in the highly exclusive society is limited to 144 "sophonts of the highest scientific or artistic achievement," and is by invitation only. Ω

Date: 277-1123Dlan (Ilelish 1021)[edit]

¶ A private G-Carrier today crashed near the archducal compound on Dlan, in what is thought to be a deliberate assassination attempt on the dowager archduchess, who was present in the compound. The vehicle was traveling in defiance of instructions from the local traffic control computer, and departed from controlled flight after a series of radical course alterations, finally striking a ridgeline about 15 kilometers from the compound in property owned by the Ilethian family. Two passengers were killed in the crash.

¶ Ownership of the G-Carrier has not been traced, and the two passengers have not yet been identified. Ω

Date: 279-1123Dlan (Ilelish 1021)[edit]

¶ Investigators have released more details about the private G-Carrier that crashed near the archducal compound on Dlan a few days ago. The vehicle's two passengers were killed instantly -- their identities have yet to be released pending the conclusion of further investigation into their motives.

¶ Investigators on Dlan revealed that the crashed G-carrier was packed with explosives, which did not detonate when the vehicle impacted the ground near the Ilethian family compound.

¶ Several Suerrat political groups are under investigation as sponsoring the alleged assassination attempt, but all of them have denied any connection with the crash. Ω

Date: 282-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ Investigation into the alleged misjump of the Far Trader Helena Concorda has discovered what appears to be a flaw in the ship's navigation programming that appears to have caused the misjump.

¶ A board of experts from the Imperial Navy and the Scout Service finished a detailed examination of the ship last week, and discovered certain anomalous features in the ship's navigation program. The investigators have pointedly refused to state whether or not the features were deliberately introduced to sabotage the ship or were an accidental result of the ship's crew attempting to modify their navigation programs. Ω

Date: 287-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ Persistent rumors indicate that the membership in the Tuday Club vacated by the resignation of Doctor Ganidiirsi Simalr was filled by Archduke Tranian of Gateway. According to one rumor, the Archduke was inducted into the organization at the societies' annual Holiday Fete on 123-1123. Membership in the highly exclusive society is limited to 144 "sophonts of the highest scientific or artistic achievement," and is by invitation only. If the rumors are correct, Tranian would be the first Tuday Club member of Archducal rank in the history of the organization.

¶ The office of Archduke Tranian could not be reached for comment. The Tuday Club's public relations Office declined to comment, as they always do when requested to confirm of deny the identity of any of their members. Ω

Date: 291-1123Dimmurak (Solomani Rim 1111)[edit]

¶ Dimmurak police investigators today announced that arrests have been made in connection with the undetonated bomb discovered earlier this year at Shadulammur Downport. The names of the arrestees are being withheld for the time being.

¶ Although Ine Givar involvement was suspected at first, but investigators soon found evidence of the group's involvement was a false lead. Ω

Date: 294-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ In a proclamation issued today, Emperor Strephon has inducted his nephew, Prince Lucan Alkhalikoi, into the Honorable order of the Emperor's Guard, as a companion of the order. Lucan's fiancée Tabitha Alonithen hault-Bennas was inducted into the Ancient and Preeminent Order of Sylea in the same proclamation. In an informal address at this morning's Imperial court, Strephon remarked that the knighthoods were awarded in honor of the Prince's upcoming marriage, and were an early wedding present to the couple.

¶ It was further announced that a limited Imperial Warrant has been dispatched by jump-6 courier, to allow Fleet Admiral Sir Jopeth Hrothgar hault-Kurshar, commander of the Zarushagar Fleet, to knight Lucan and his fiancée as part of the wedding ceremony. Ω

Date: 296-1123Ganesh (Solomani Rim 2518)[edit]

¶ Operatives of the Ministry of Justice and the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service have uncovered an organization dedicated to smuggling weapons, money, and equipment from inside the Imperium to supporters of deposed Solomani Secretary-General Marc Chissano. In a series of arrests on Ganesh and nearby worlds, the MoJ and IISS have taken into custody more than three hundred individuals connected with the plot, and have confiscated several small mercantile spacecraft. In addition, documents recovered as part of the arrests indicate that fund-raising for the group may have been undertaken as deep into the Imperium as Terra/Sol.

¶ Chissano himself is rumored to be held incommunicado by security forces of the provisional Solomani government of Jan Malikov. A spokesman for the MoJ stated "It is not known whether the plotters intended to try to rescue Chissano, but that would not be out of the question." Ω

Date: 301-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ The office of Archduke Tranian of Gateway today announced that the Archduke has respectfully declined the offer of membership in the Tuday Club made to him earlier in the year. "The Archduke was honored to be considered a sophont 'of the highest scientific or artistic achievement,'" the statement read, "but he does not have the free time to do justice to the organization."

¶ This is the first confirmation of the rumors that the highly secretive organization had actually invited the archduke to join their number, which is limited to a total of 144 at any given time. Ω

Date: 314-1123Mora (Spinward Marches 3124)[edit]

¶ Political observers noted today that Duchess Elane Shankarr Muudashir of Mora held court today, and included among her Ducal regalia the sash and medallion of a knight companion of the Order of Deneb.

¶ Political observers in the Marches believe that Duchess Elane's use of the regalia (and the title in official proclamations) is further evidence that she does not intend to continue the rivalry between her late aunt (Duchess Delphine of Mora) and Archduke Norris of Deneb. This is a major change in the political climate of the Marches. Ω

Date: 316-1123Capital (Core 2118)[edit]

¶ The Imperial palace today announced that Prince Varian Alkhalikoi Alkhalikoi has declared his intention to return to Sanches (Core 0416) and take up his position as Duke. The duchy has been under the administration of a seneschal since the death of Varian's father, Duke Dresden Paulo Alkhalikoi of Sanches. Varian has issued no statement himself – indeed, his precise whereabouts were not part of the press release, and are currently unknown – and the reasons for this abrupt change in lifestyle remain a matter for speculation. Ω

Date: 324-1123Terra (Solomani Rim 1827)[edit]

¶ In a press release dated today, the seneschal of Marchioness Alessandra Da Silva of Terra announced that officers of the Ministry of Justice and the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service, in cooperation with local police and military agencies, have arrested an unspecified number of individuals on a variety of charges, including money-laundering and illegal fund-raising. These individuals are associated with the organization recently uncovered on Ganesh in the Banasdan subsector of the Solomani Rim, dedicated to smuggling weapons, money, and equipment from inside the Imperium to supporters of deposed Solomani Secretary-General Marc Chissano.

¶ Officials declined to release names of the arrestees or other details, but did say that only a small proportion were Imperial citizens, but declined to say how many were citizens of the Solomani Confederation. Ω

Date: 344-1123Mora (Spinward Marches 3124)[edit]

¶ Duchess Elane Shankarr Muudashir of Mora has called for a formal conclave of the subsector dukes of the Spinward Marches, to take place on Holiday of 1124. The announcement noted that the invitation specifically listed each subsector duke and that the list included Archduke Norris of Deneb, in his capacity as Duke of Regina. Political observers in the Marches believe this is the signal to date that Duchess Elane intends to patch up the political rift between her aunt (the former Duchess of Mora) and Duke Norris, begun before the start of the Fifth Frontier War. Ω
