Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard Shipyard v1.13 written by Andrea Vallance. |
The TC7 Tongal class Brigantine is a warship.
- It is a military ship and a Destroyer Escort.
Description (Specifications)
Built in the Trooles Confederation colonies, the brigantine was swifter and more easily maneuvered than a sloop or schooner, and was hence employed for purposes of piracy, espionage, and reconnoitering, and as an outlying attendant upon large ships for protecting a ship, or for supply or landing purposes in a fleet.
Basic Ship Characteristics
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]

History & Background (Dossier)
The TC7 Tongal class Brigantine is used by the Trooles Confederation as a destroyer escort. The marine squad took a hit in size due to the space required for the energy absorbent flexible hull platelets. This armor scheme proved ineffective under sustained bombardment. The streamlined saucer configuration allows them to maneuver within planetary atmospheres and directly support their marine commando teams. Crews greatly appreciate the roomy single occupancy staterooms, a luxury in the navy. Unfortunately, 26 extra marines can be deployed for larger incursions. Under most circumstances these are short duration operations and ship's crew look forward to getting "back to normal" ASAP.
