The TC004 Rambler class Grav APC is a TL-11 Armored Fighting Vehicle.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Rambler 4T class Grav APC, TL-11: The vehicle's crystaliron armor sheaths the chassis to levels of protection equivalent or slightly superior to starship hull metal. This design is sealed with life support for the crew and passengers in vacuum and protected forces roles. It features heavy frontal armor on the radically slope chassis front, proof against most current weapon systems. A stock power plant is installed to save mass and cost, the grav modules do not need to compete for power. The turret is fitted with a sentinel 4cm RAM automatic grenade launcher above the commander's cupolas. This remote mount can be set to automatically engage enemy infantry that doesn't IFF register correctly. The twenty TAC missile launch rails provide the heavy hitting power but suffer from limited range. The plasma gun is used for point defense and has limited abilities as an offensive weapon. The vehicle has a crew of two: driver, and gunner/commander and carries eight passengers. They have good operational range and endurance.

Basic Vehicle Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Army and IISS Universal Vehicle Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the vehicle when applicable. Tonnage on the universal vehicle profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary.

Weapons:[edit]

Full weapons stabilization.

Turret Mounted Weapons[edit]

There is a remote mounted with the 4cm RAM AGL above the commander's cupolas for infantry suppression. It can engage 2 targets and has a +2 signature. It comes loaded with 1,600 HEAP 36 grenades, enough for 20 fire phases.

Direct Fire Characteristics: 4cm RAM Automatic Grenade Launcher
Effective Range Long Range Extreme Range
370 m 750 m 1,500 m

The Rapid Pulse Plasma Gun is automatically spotted when it fires. It can engage two targets with a +2 hit DM. The point defense fire control rolls 8 dice versus indirect fire missions.

Direct Fire Characteristics: Rapid Pulse Plasma Gun
Effective Range Long Range Extreme Range
1.095km (36)/20m(20) 2.19km (28)/10m(12) 4.381km (4)

TAC Missiles[edit]

There are twenty 135kg capacity launch rails in a pod on the side of the turret. They use a 30cm HEAP 59 warhead and it takes three crew members to manually reload these missiles externally if additional rounds are available, or carried in the cargo space. The homing missiles struggle to achieve intercepts against vehicles protected with advanced ECM abilities. Twenty HEAP 59 maser linked, teleguided missiles are included in the price. The vehicle lacks the ability to designate its own targets and relies on deployed infantry to spot and mark targets.

Characteristics: HEAP Warhead Missiles
Type Range Price
Homing HEAP 59 18km Cr554
Target Designated HEAP 59 18km Cr654
IR Follow Up HEAP +8 18km Cr654

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The TC004 Rambler class Grav APC was designed and manufactured at TL–11, these vehicles were license built for the Trooles Confederation in the Theta Borealis Sector. These probably date from models used during the formation of the confederacy. Built to cope with combat vehicles from Korsumug Empire. They are maintenance hogs and require several dedicated technicians to keep their weapons and electronics functional over time. Traditionally deployed in companies of twelve APCs with 24 crew, and 96 dismounts, or 120 troopers in three platoons of four vehicles each. The unit commander is traditionally the platoon commander of the first platoon, and double hats, with logistical support units concentrated at higher levels.
