Stanter is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and barren in nature with no overt population, government, or law level.
- These worldlets would warrant hazardous environment precautions if anyone lived here.
- They could be populated if anyone had an inclination to do so...
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Stanter Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
Astrography and Planetology
The system is the location of the Stanter Receiver Assembly Microwave Observatory, maintained and run by the University of Tal Varisa Deep Sky Program. The observatory, consisting of a series of large satellites located in stable orbital positions around the system's primary, is entirely automatic. Maintenance teams visit on an irregular basis.

System data
The primary is Fall, a huge red giant star. It has a luminosity of 2588 Sols, a mass of 8.75 Sols and a diameter of 455 million km, extending as far as 1.52 AU, almost to orbital position (IV). The inner system consists of (IV) a large extremely hot gas giant orbiting very close to the surface of the star, (V) a small intensely hot rocky world, thought to be a lost moon of the hot inner gas giant, and (IX) the Stanter Inner Belt, a sparse stony planetoid belt – orbital positions (VI) (VII) and (VIII) are empty. (X) The Stanter Main Belt orbits in the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (XI) a rocky vacuum world, (XII) a large exotic atmosphere world, (XIII) a large gas giant, (XIV, XV) two icy vacuum worlds, and (XVI) a small exotic atmosphere world form the outer system. Many of the worlds in the system retain small satellites.
(X) Stanter Main Belt
(IX) the Stanter Main Belt orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean distance of 37.0 AU from the star and is primarily made up of carbonaceous bodies with diameters of less than 100 km. The inner edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of nickel-iron bodies, is considered to lie at around 35 AU from the star and the the outer edge of the belt is considered to live at approximately 39 AU. The major named body is Redstone, with a mean orbital distance of 36.45 AU around Fall and an orbital period of XX years XXX days. It has a long axis of 250 km, a density of 3.25 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.012 G. It retains no atmosphere and has no hydrographics. Mean surface temperature: 150°C in sunlight, -100°C in shadow.

World starport
Stanter has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World technology level
Stanter possesses a Technology Level of TL–0.
- These worlds often contain a Proto-Sophont species beginning to establish a nascent civilization and society.
- This world is in its Alpha Period and has not yet been interfered with by a higher technology civilization.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Bodily communicative apparati, courier-runners, and smoke signals.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Bodily muscle.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Bodily locomotion, riding beasts, and litters or sedan chairs.
- Water: Swimming, rafts, and canoes.
- Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability.
World government
Stanter has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
