Aasa'tha is a hellworld with an inhospitable environment that makes conditions difficult for most sophonts.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations. Those who dwell on such worlds often form intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- It is a part of the Sath Exploration program in the As'Kaa Subsector of Course Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- It is considered to be a part of the Aasa'tha Cluster.

System Data
H'ssakth System
The primary is H'ssakth, a red giant star. It has a luminosity of 1194 Sols, a mass of 6.74 Sols, and a diameter of 179.49 million km – the corona of the star extends to 0.6 AU, within orbital position (III). The inner system consists of (V) a vacuum worldlet, (VI) a trace atmosphere inner world, (VII) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (VIII) a dense stony planetoid belt – orbital positions (I) and (II) lie within the star and orbital positions (III) and (IV) are empty. (IX) a ringed large gas giant orbits within the habitable zone. (X-I) a small gas giant, and (X-II) an corrosive atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites
K'thaa-Ssihka Subsystem
The companion is K'thaa, an ordinary red main sequence star lying approximately 780 AU from H'ssakth. It has a luminosity of 0.0268 Sols, a mass of 0.4258 Sols, and a diameter of 658,000 km. (I) Ssihaa, designated the mainworld, (II) a [[very thin atmosphere radworld, (III) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, and (IV) a small ice giant form the outer system. Most of the worlds retain satellites.
- The star experiences periodic flare activity.
Mainworld Data
(I) Ssihaa
(I) Ssihaa is designated the mainworld. It orbits K'thaa at a mean distance of 0.16 AU (23.9 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 34 days 18 hours: it is tidally locked to K'thaa. The axial tilt is 0 degrees. Ssihaa has a diameter of 4,699 km, a density of 5.21 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.35 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of K'thaa cause frequent geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Very Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.18 bar and a composition of 87% nitrogen (N2), 11% abiotic oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor (H2O), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the very low percentage of atmospheric oxygen and the relatively high levels of background radiation: emission rates exceed 3 rads per hour. Approximately 21% of the surface is covered in sheets of water ice and lakes of liquid water. Mean surface temperature: -3°C. The climate is rated as Cold and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is sluggish and weak weather systems driven by the star drift across the globe.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 69 million km², Land surface area: 55 million km², Water surface area: 14 million km².
- The oxygen in the atmosphere is abiotic in origin, produced by the photocatalytic reaction between UV energy radiating from the star and titanium dioxide (TiO2), which is found in surface minerals such as ilmenite.
- Ssihaa is a Twilight Zone World.
- The world experiences libration, which causes the star to move in the sky and periodically rise and fall above the horizon in the twilight region.
