Shosia is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.

  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Orret Subsector of Far Home Sector.

System Data[edit]

Tish-Shosia System[edit]

The primary is Tish, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.284 Sols, a mass of 0.723 Sols, and a diameter of 1.073 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a trace atmosphere inner world, and (II) Shosia, designated the mainworld. (III-I) a standard atmosphere hospitable world, and (III-II) thin atmosphere] hospitable world have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (IV) a very thin atmosphere] hospitable world, (V) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, (VI-I) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VI-II) a ringed small gas giant, (VII) a large gas giant, (VIII) a small ice giant, and (IX) a dense icy planetoid belt form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(II) Shosia[edit]

(II) Shosia is designated the mainworld. It orbits Tish at a mean distance of 0.45 AU (67.3 million km), within the within the H– region of the inner system. It has an orbital period of 129 days 16 hours and a rotation period of 27 hours. The axial tilt is 4 degrees. Shosia has a diameter of 8,740 km, a density of 5.86 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.73 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, with a mean surface pressure of 0.62 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N2), 20% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Shosia is a water world, with approximately 98.7% of the surface covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 1.2m. Mean surface temperature: 23°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Warm and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems driven by the star and the oceans sweep across the globe.

Satellite[edit]

Shosia retains a single natural satellite, a temperate very thin atmosphere hospitable world named Basu:

(IIa) Basu (UWP F334314-A, orbiting at 30 Diameters/260,000 km)

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 240 million km², Water surface area: 237 million km², Land surface area: 3 million km².

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Tish-Shosia System[edit]

Shosia, the mainworld, lying in orbital position (II) (within the H– region of the inner system) has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

  • Basu, Shosia's temperate marginally hospitable moon has extensive native life, consisting of minute multicellular organisms that can be found in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

The temperate hospitable world lying in orbital position (III-I) (within the habitable zone) has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

The temperate hospitable world lying in orbital position (III-II) (within the habitable zone) has primitive native life, consisting almost entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (IV) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

No other world in the system is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

No information yet available.

World starport[edit]

Shosia has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World technology level[edit]

Shosia possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World government[edit]

Shosia is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to write the policies voted on. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by voting population.
