The Ship's Boat uses a 30-ton hull, is capable of 6-G acceleration, carries 1.8 tons of fuel tankage, and has a crew of two. [1]
Description (Specifications)
A ship's boat may mount one beam or pulse laser; remaining weapons must be missile racks and sandcasters. The craft has 13.7 tons of excess space available, and typically costs MCr16. [1]
History & Background (Dossier)
The Ship’s Boat is probably the second most common smallcraft after the lifeboat or launch. It has become one of the eight most popular and commonly encountered smallcraft designs found within Charted Space.
Ship’s Boat Training
The training of all smallcraft is often called ship’s boat skill; it is piloting of all applicable smallcraft.
Ship's Boat Skill: An individual with this training is familiar with the function and operation of small interplanetary craft collectively known as ship's boats. These craft range in size from five to 100 tons, and include shuttles, lifeboats, launches, ship's boats, and fighters. The small interplanetary craft carried as auxiliaries or boats on larger ships, or serving the needs of bases and stations, are distinctly different from the large vessels which ply the space lanes. Ship's boat expertise reflects a distinct experience and training in the operation of these craft. [2]
