Shallows Subsector is important from the point of view of communications, as the most direct link between the Vland Main and the Medurma Main is the Jump-two bridge between Amigu and Unlshplir. The Diishalum system has relatively little influence within the subsector, as it is effectively overshadowed by more powerful areas such as Mimu and Ushra. In recent years the subsector's, economic centre of gravity has shifted to the Unlshpllr-Upag region, as these worlds have prospered under increased trade with the ComSentiency.

The Shallows Subsector contains 40 worlds with a population of 120.2 billion. The highest population is 90 billion, at Upag. The highest tech level is F at Upag. The subsector capital is at Diishalum.

The Shallows Subsector is defended by 50th Fleet.
