Sedd is a nonindustrial vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Veesene Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

System Data

Arvan-Sedd System

The primary is Arvan, a dim red subdwarf star. It has a luminosity of 0.00006 Sols, a mass of 0.058 Sols, and a diameter of 73,700 km. (I) a very thin atmosphere radworld, (II) a vacuum iceworld, (III) Julius, an exotic atmosphere stormmworld: (IIIa) Sedd is its only satellite and is designated the mainworld, and (IV) a thin atmosphere radworld. The two outer worlds retain satellites.

(III) Julius

(III) Julius orbits primary at a mean distance of 0.73 AU (109.2 million km), within the outer system. It has an orbital period of 2 years 216 days and a rotation period of 27.5 hours. The axial tilt is 16 degrees. Julius has a diameter of 6,516 km, a density of 4.63 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.43 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Exotic, with a mean surface pressure of 2.23 bar and a composition of 96% nitrogen, 3% carbon dioxide, and 1% argon, water vapour, neon and other trace gases. It has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: 53°C. The atmosphere is very active and violent weather systems driven by the star and the seas sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Mainworld Data

(IIIa) Sedd

(IIIa) Sedd is the only moon of (III) Julius and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 45 diameters (293,000 km), with an orbital period of 26 days 19 hours: it is tidally locked to Julius. It has an axial tilt of 4 degrees. Sedd has a diameter of 1,715 km, a density of 4.23 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.11 G. Tidal stresses caused by the gravitational pull of Julius causes occasional geological activity. It retains an atmosphere rated as Vacuum. It has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: -72°C.

Mainworld geography and topography

Total surface area: 9.3 million km².

Native lifeforms

No world in the Sedd system is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)

No information yet available.

World starport

Sedd has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level

Sedd possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
