Sambra has both an unbreathably thin atmosphere and a lack of surface water making habitation by sophonts difficult. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a Human dominated Non-Aligned world in the Kakhasaek Subsector of Empty Quarter Sector.

History and Background[edit]

Located well off the main trade routes, Sambra was colonized in the century immediately before the Julian War united the region under the Protectorate. During the Julian War, the local militia captured a misjumped Imperial vessel and used their prize ship to defend their homeworld from interstellar attack through the remainder of the conflict. Afterwards, as repair parts became harder to come by, the local world government finally decided to land the ship (formerly the ISS Fury of New Phoenix, before it was captured and renamed as the Vaerek-Sourens), and convert the hull into a museum dedicated to preserving Julian War memorabilia.

Today, the Vaerek-Sourens Memorial Museum is the largest museum dedicated solely to commemorating the Julian Wars era in the Empty Quarter Sector (and some say within the Julian Protectorate, although there's no evidence to back up such claims). A favorite tourist attraction of historical researchers and retired military personnel within the rimward and trailing portions of the Protectorate, the museum is perhaps the only major attraction on an otherwise backwater planet.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Sambra has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Population[edit]

700,000

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Sambra possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Sambra has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
