The captain refers to the ship as a battle cruiser to intimidate the uninformed. |
The Sadist class Destroyer is a warship.
- It is a military ship and a Destroyer.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Black Variable is a Sadist class Destroyer, a notorious pirate ship, long thought to be a Vargr commerce raider.
It turns out the the dreaded Black Variable is a Terran prototype. It made the long trip from Charted Space to Uncharted Space in the Distant Fringe.
It is crewed by a group of deserters who fell to pillaging behind enemy lines when their trans-border task force was cut off and largely eliminated by Imperial naval squadrons. She has been on the run ever since. Her captain Karen Barns, a former admiral who commandeered the ship from the rightful captain, decided to escape deeper into imperial territory to confuse pursuit elements. A Sadist Class Destroyer, this prototype has several usual features. Fitted with four fifty ton weapon bays, she carries three particle accelerators and a repulsor. She has meson screens and a nuclear damper, but not hull armor. She is streamlined for ocean refueling but has no fuel refinery fitted. She carries a 20ton gig, but has no cargo bay. Fitted with Jump-5 range and 5 G's acceleration, her energy weapons preclude agility. Her bridge is fitted with a model 8 fib computer. As a result her captain has been forced to travel with some captured free traders which are used to process fuel, carry troops and whose cargo bays hold the group's loot and booty.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary.
