Ruskin is a non-agricultural, pre-industrial vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • Its economy and population are slowly growing and living conditions are expected to improve in the near future barring outside forces.
  • This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the McKenzie Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector in the Domain of Sol.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

The Ruskin system is a binary system with a main sequence orange dwarf and a red dwarf approximately 500 AU distant. They orbit a barycenter located 193 AU from the primary star and each have a local planetary system. While they gravitational influence each other, the distance between the two stars is far enough that they do not significantly influence the orbits of their respective systems.

It takes approximately 10,290 years for the two stars to complete a single orbital period around the system's barycenter.
