Rure Subsector or the Rurevayn is a region at the mercy of its astrographical position. First occupied by the Vilani, then the Solomani, then Aslan, then the Syleans, and finally the Vilani again, Rurevayn is used to invasion and subjugation.

Description (Specifications)

The Rure Subsector is defended by 271st Fleet.

Subsector Summary: 1105

Rure, subsector F of Gushemege contains 27 worlds with an estimated population of 10 billion, a per capita income of Cr7,493, and a total economy is BCr78,340. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr882 through 25 starports (7 Class A, 10 Class B, 5 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 215,440 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, three Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, three Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Rure maintain seven Naval bases, five Scout bases, and one Way station. The average technology level is 10 (with most between 7 and 13). The highest technology level is 15 at Munnarn (Gushemege 1013), Shir (Gushemege 1020), and Platon (Gushemege 1412).

Rure, subsector F of Gushemege contains 40 stars and 276 identified planets; 16 monostellar systems, nine binary systems, two trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 21 of the 27 systems (77%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, three Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, four Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.

Rure has an estimated population of 10 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 20 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, one Low population (Lo) world, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Usdiki (Gushemege 1015) and Imaparlu (Gushemege 1616). The population consists of 1 sophont groups.

History-Era: Rebellion Era

The Rebellion, with the Sector a battleground between Dulinor, Strephon, Lucan and the New Ziru Sirka, is seen as just one more example of the region's history. Hardly surprisingly, locals had developed a healthy distrust of foreign powers, and a preference to be left alone to get on with their own lives.

History-Era: New Era

As the stronghold of Strephon, Rure and surrounding subsectors had been a safe area. And unlike the wilds, where Virus wasn't able to settle, here it found excellent facilities, naval bases, shipyards, and working economies. Those strains who hadn't suicided in the first weeks managed to work together to maintain what was left after the primary infection. Vland and Ilelish had seen similar developments, but without interstellar trade, high technologies like the awakened AIs needed wasn't possible to sustain. The decline stopped immediately within a year, when Muecke and Silviana Novalis came back with a fleet of over 400 liners and traders in 1138. Strephon, more in fear of the Empress Wave than of his military opponents, had distributed more JumpStart caches in the Rurevayn during the Rebellion than in any other region before 1116. The recollection of the caches, not only containing the broad knowledge of Imperial technologies, but also highly automated fabrication facilities for producing design samples, allowed Rurevayn to take a head start into a new era.

The Rurevayn can now be considered the head of the wilds. The Gushemege Merchantile Guild is now operating between the Zhodani Consulate, Regina, Vland, the Hub, Diaspora and the Rim, and could be considered the largest spanning trade network of the modern times. While showing a clean skirt in Rure, it's known that "control of trade justifies anything" is the Guild's motto outside. Thus, the guild takes its part in drug smuggling in the Regency and even slavery in Diaspora. So far from Rure, often the picture of a society which managed to survive the hard times becomes overlayed with rumors of humans being enslaved by vampires. Thus, those who have heard of the Rurevayn often call it the Trade Vampire.

In 1206 the Regency started to build a fleet called "Vampire Hunter", officially aimed at patrolling the Corridor. Moderate fractions immediately launched a diplomatic mission, which was considered a failure. So Rure is now preparing for war -- not only the Silkku (peoples army) in defending the home area, but also the Pulehov Nunjki (foreign army), which is openly discussing seizing territory in the Islands Cluster as a forward defense. This hardliner position, that attack is the best defense, gained many followers when an unofficial copy of a Regency Moot discussion was distributed in Rure. A well known RQS warhawk propagated the idea, that a clean way of disabling Virus in a system also populated by humans who are in collaboration with vampires, would be to nuke the world from orbit, to get rid of both.
