Ross 154 (otherwise known as GJ 729) is a pinkinsh-ornage main sequence UV Ceti-type flare star of spectral classification M3.5 .
- It is a star and an astrographic feature.
Description (Specifications)
Because of its low mass, the interior of Ross 154 is completely convective, causing energy to be transferred to the exterior by the movement of plasma rather than through radiative transport. This convection means that the helium ash left over from the thermonuclear fusion of hydrogen does not accumulate at the core, but instead circulates throughout the star. Unlike Sol, which will only burn through about 10% of its total hydrogen supply before leaving the main sequence, Ross 154 will consume nearly all of its fuel before the fusion of hydrogen comes to an end, becoming smaller and hotter as the fuel is used up and turning into a "blue dwarf" as its end approaches. It will finally end its life as a white dwarf, without having passed through the red-giant phase.
The Ross 154 star system lies approximately 3.0pc from Terra, and is located in a Coreweard/Coretrailing direction from Terra at bearing 011.3o Galactic Longitude and -10.3o South Galactic Latitude.
History & Background (Dossier)
Ross 154 is the primary star of the world Agidda/Sol (Solomani Rim 1824).
During the Second Interstellar War between the Terran Confederation and the Aasha Ziru Sirka of the First Imperium, the Battle of Agidda (-2397) was the first main-fleet engagement involving large ships on both sides, the Aasha Ziru Sirka and the Terran Navy. It left both fleets unable to press the attack, but the Terrans can be considered the victors. They retained control of Agidda (world) and soon established a base there.
