Roethoeegaeaegz is a vacuum world, with no atmosphere or hydrosphere. The system has a population over one billion. This world contains an archaeological site with artifacts suspected to be from the now-vanished Ancients. The world has a colony on Nouon (Knoellighz 1927). This system serves as the capital for the subsector. This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Ascendancy Pact in the Thoeg Subsector of Knoellighz Sector.

  • This system hosts a Pact Naval Base for support of military starships.

Description / Astrography & Planetology

"We are not sexist because our males are not strong. We are sexist because they were too strong. And now they are too few." - Sangthaghlla Thazdhoth, the third Matron of Roethoeegaeaegz

Sangthaghlla Thazdhoth.jpg

Roethoeegaeaegz / Thoeg (Knoellighz 1726) An Cp Hi Ht In Na Pz Va C: 1927 is a Vaccuum world in the polity known as the Ascendancy Pact (Vx or VAsP). With a high population of around 4 billion sophonts, mostly Gvegh ethnic Vargr, the planet is one of the few industrial powerhouses of the Pact.

  • The stellar primary is a F5 V white stellar primary with a class L brown dwarf for an outer star partner. The mainworld's lack of atmosphere is caused by the dwarf's influence.
  • The world is rated Hi Population, home to nearly or just above 4 billion sophonts.
  • The lack of an atmosphere and hydrosphere indicates that the planet must receive imports of water and air or recycle its reserves through hydroponics, arboretums or high technologies to maintain living conditions for its inhabitants.
  • Roethoeegaeaegz could be termed the subsector capital but for the argument of rival polities, non-aligned worlds and its stifling Government and Law ratings. By default, the world has the Cp Trade Code, but the debate continues well into 1105.
  • A Non-Agricultural world, Roethoeegaeaegz must use its technology to grow what it can and import from off-world to make up the difference to feed its citizens.
  • An Industrial powerhouse, the citizens manufacture and export needs to the greater polity's eager buyers to afford its own needs of the people.
  • The environmental needs of this world has generated a stifling Government of Religious Autocracy (a religious and state autocracy) as well as a strict Law rating of D to maintain safety of the masses.
  • A grim determination can be found in the average citizen when inhospitable conditions of the planet can be unforgiving lest rules are followed for everyone's safety. Citizens of all ages are taught from early years the necessary precautions to live on this world.
  • Despite the harsh conditions of a Vacuum world, (and some would add Desert), Roethoeegaeaegz enjoys a Ht (High Technology) rating to ensure the world does not fail or become doomed. A surplus of manufactured goods maintains an import/export economy to meet the needs of survival here.
  • The world features a Naval Base that services the Naval fleets of the Ascendancy Pact. As one of few Industrial worlds in the Pact, the Navy ensures the security of this system and the worlds within Jump-3 of it. This includes the so-called Bridge of Destiny.
  • Roethoeegaeaegz features both a Highport in orbit and a Downport for arrivals and departures approved by the local government.
  • While Roethoeegaeaegz does not qualify as an Ancients site, Time-capsules shunted into Knoellighz from the distant past by the suspected precursors, have at least once appeared on this world. It is suspected that such precursor technology has jumpstarted this world's "Recovery".
  • The Church-State rule by a Religious Autocracy supported by a very high Law Level gives rise to a debated equivalent Amber Zone for female visitors and nigh a Red Zone for male visitors of any race. Yet citizens of this world do not feel such a rating is warranted. Ample warnings are transmitted and available through download or hardcopy at the orbital Highport.

The two Gas Giants are named Duzghue <Muzzle> and Zari <Tail> with Zari positioned almost to the rim of the solar system. The single and wide planetoid belt is given the designation Kongzek-Thezough <Millions Infighting> for the many collisions between asteroid rocks that occur there. Many belters make a stopover at adjacent Duzghue to refuel their mining vessels before continuing their operations.

Mainworld Geography & Topography

Lacking atmosphere or surface water, the mainworld is stark and bleak with mountains, deep crevices and valleys, meteor craters, wide empty plains without feature. The only notable details on the surface are the great panes of solar power, environment domes over stepped craters, the industrialized Downport nestled in a deep and shadowed crevice and the silvery mag-rail transit trains that vein the surface between domes.

History & Background / Dossier

ROETHOEEGAEAEGZ is found in Thoeg Subsector of Knoellighz Sector of the Vargr Extents.

A relatively new addition, during the fourth wave of Ascendancy Pact expansion, Roethoeegaeaegz eagerly sought annexation to the Ascendancy Pact. Since then, the world has become a vocal contributor to the Representative body of the Pact. Moreover, the Roethoeegaeaegz Representative has been elevated by the Representatives to be one of three exalted and Charismatic Magistrates of the polity, the newest and only female Vargr to be so elevated.

Roethoeegaeaegz is a Recovering world from a chaotic and violent economic downturn and collapse in its earliest years. In the Golden Era of this world, the population was much lower rated and the female to male ratio was around 50%-50%. When the underground chambers fought a Civil War with nearby caverns and subterranean arcologies, many males died. The fighting stopped when the females of the planet discovered the new population ratio had skewed to 75%-25% in female favor. This alarmed both genders. That is when the local Church stepped in to bail out the failing government whose poor and indecisive policies were quickly dooming the world. When Church and State merged under the religion and its Matron, the planet's laws and government skyrocketed. Just as fast, the Downport and Highport ratings jumped from C to A with the females of the planet in control.

With a medium-sized planet that lent itself to populous factories and manufacturing plants, deep and solid mines, the world quickly began to out produce more hospitable neighbors on its high population virtue alone. When Church and State merged on the plank of safety and security so near to extinction of the male population, Corsair bands and the hotbed known as the Bridge of Destiny, the local government yielded to the mandates of the Church led by a Matron priestess of very high Charisma and pragmatic maneuvers to solidify her power.

Today, as a Religious Autocracy, Roethoeegaeaegz is ruled by a series of Matron, priestesses, inquisitors, paladins, valkyries (and a few other female-oriented titles translated to Galanglic) down to the pack level. Above that, the world is run by its females. With this firm-minded belief system, survival methods and pragmatism, the world began to dominate its vicinity, not by military but by economic pressures justified by the proximity of the Bridge of Destiny, and technology rivals such as Serue (Knoellighz 1221) outside the Ascendancy Pact. It is the hopes of this female-dominated world that the Ascendancy Pact someday absorbs Serue in its Coreward expansion.

The UWP of Roethoeegaeaegz shows a Population rating of 9, presenting a Trade Code of In (Industrial) before and during 1105 and up to the Rebellion far to Rimward in the Imperium. Hard Times reaches even into Knoellighz Sector and population control drops the birth rate until the rating falls to 8. This stays the same and into the 1130s when Vampire ships invade the Sector. Orbital bombings do much damage to the surface infrastructure, orbital facilities and subsurface enclosures, but fail to penetrate to the lower chambers. Though Knoellighz Sector is absorbed into the Wilds, the world of Roethoeegaeaegz makes a slow recovery to 3 billion sophonts by 1200, restoring its In Trade Code in following the Quarantine measures imported from Guvurrdon Sector through the Zhodani Consulate and rival polity Infinity League. By this time though, Roethoeegaeaegz is only one of two Hi (High Population) and In (Industrial) worlds left intact in the Ascendancy Pact.

World Starport

Roethoeegaeaegz has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level

Roethoeegaeaegz possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government

Roethoeegaeaegz is governed by a Religious Autocracy. A direct religious theocracy where the government head is a single person who is also the head of the religion organization. The Church hierarchy also serves as the government bureaucracy.

World Law Level

World Military

Military and Intelligence: Since the high Government and Law ratings have merged the law enforcement and active duty Army into paladins, there is no distinction that other worlds might call "martial law". Paramilitary law enforcement is the norm and has no other form to compare itself with. The standing Army of female paladins are supported by male squires who provide support, logistics, communications and administration. The Army answers to the priestess level of the Church and State and follows rules of engagement set down by the Religious Autocracy codified and occasionally revised by a current Matron. A street-level paladin has the same weaponry and equipment as a warzone Army paladin. The high Law level of Roethoeegaeaegz allows for little knowledge of any other form of law enforcement. Sieges performed by aerospace and space Marines called valkyries (a loose translation from Gvegh) are also supported by males held in non-combat roles. The valkyries answer to the priestesses who also control the in-system Navy. Finally, the fifth collumn of Intelligence is occupied by female inquisitors in operations that may involve risk to life and limb. Male intelligence-gathering generally falls in to the realm of the kunoichi (a last, poor translation from Galanglic) or bed agent. These males work the reverse harems in the households of rival packs and their female alphas. Both female and male intelligence operatives answer to the priestesses.

A member world of the Ascendancy Pact, the local and in-system Navy of Roethoeegaeaegz consists of female captains and crews. This is due to some elements of male smuggling off-world and to neighboring systems that often refuse to extradite refugees. The world's Matron has contracted privateers under an Affirmation of Duty (Letter of Marque), using the Hunters' Bawn set of guidelines for those legitimized Corsairs who also tow the religious doctrine of the Church. Polity Navy is allowed to operate and be serviced at the Naval Base at a Lagrange Point between Roethoeegaeaegz and its closest of two moons. Pact Navy ships are well-educated to keep liberties limited to the Naval facility and even then away from immigration kiosks found stationed there to attract healthy males who can pass planetary health and apptitude tests and become citizens.

World Economy

Economy: With a large Industrial rating permitted by a high Population and a Vaccuum surface environment, this world is a major exporter of manufactured goods, refined materials, purified raw materials and sophont worker resources, (again 75% are female). The world's class A Starport features a Highport in orbit and a Downport nestled in a deep valley adjacent to underground, valley wall hangars. On the surface, the Downport has no extraterritoriality. Visitors are given ample warning via transmitted files to inbound vessels as to the laws and government of this world. Male Vargr from other worlds should avoid planetary landing unless they wish to risk selection by an esteemed female for a term of Reverse Harem service. In this light, most trade with ships featuring male crew occurs in orbit at the Highport or points beyond in-system. Corporations are heavily regulated by the Government and severely limited in their chosen industries except where the needs of the planet safety and environment survival trump such limits. Corporate conflicts, espionage and sabotage are not commonplace but do happen when packs clash for slights and other reasons. Local industry is religiously favored over products from other worlds of equal or lesser Technology Levels. This gives rise to Roethoeegaeaegz' envy bordering jealousy over nearby Serue (Knoellighz 1221) rated F on a similar but Desert world.

World Demographics

Emigration and Immigration: Though technically legal, a male can seek application to emigrate from Roethoeegaeaegz, especially if he is never selected for terms of service as a consort. This is severely frowned upon as a slight against the Recovery of the female-male ratio of the population. Nevertheless it can happen. Those denied permits to leave the world can still seek to stow away upon a Downport or Highport ship in dock. Lastly, a male can seek to be smuggled from the world with the right amount of bribe money.

Females of any level of society on Roethoeegaeaegz may emigrate from the planet whenever they choose. This group of females can come from any walk of life or orientation. Each is asked before leaving to bring the doctrines of the Church with them to their destination or spread such wherever they travel. This is the main reason that other worlds know to steer their males safely in-system or around it. Many emigrating females bring their society and freedom of male-sharing wherever they find similar compatibility elsewhere.

Males often need re-education to cast off the yoke of 'availability' and habit service to any female Vargr that takes passing notice of them. This leads to much jolity in mistaken encounters of selection.

Immigration of male Vargr is far more valued over females to Roethoeegaeaegz. Yet each male that seeks to become a citizen of the world must undergo physical quarantine until cleared of maladies, diseases and genetic mutations. Following those come the mental and educational aptitudes exams. (Male immigrant Vargr must have at least 7+ Endurance, 7+ Intelligence and 7+ Education). Psion males and females are quickly sent away if discovered as they are seen as potential risks to the Government and Law ratings of the world. Once all criteria are satisfied, the male Vargr immigrant is given a copy of the Recovery, the textual guidelines and doctrine of the Church and State to abide by. This can come in hardcopy for Vargr from lower Tech worlds or be downloaded while in-system by any male Vargr for no charge.

Reverse Harem: A policy put into place by the Church soon after solidifying its power with State; a male is expected to serve at least one term (a fiscal year cycle) after coming of age as a reverse harem consort of one or more females to maintain the gene pool on the planet. A male may serve more than one term but only after two terms of education, work or other service career. Afterwards, males again serve a term in availability to interested females. Polyandry is rampant on Roethoeegaeaegz and marriage a blessing for a male and is usually followed by an increase in Charisma and a reduction of 'availability' other than whom his mate allows or orders him to pair with. Males may opt out of reverse harem service by donating a requisite amount of sperm to a genetic diversity repository. From there, the male may continue a non-harem term. Females may opt completely out of the reproductive cycle. Cries for contraception in a population of 4 billion is at odds with religious tradition and needs of the industry base. Termination of a pregnancy, especially if the fetus is found to be male in coming, is deeply frowned upon lest it threaten the life of the mother. A male due for a term of 'availability' and still remains outside a pack or individual female's reverse harem can be selected by any female that becomes interested in him.

Recovery: There was a Golden Era of civilization where population division of females to males was closer to 50%-50%. But an economic downturn-turned-collapse caused by poor decision making of the then male leadership led to riots and civil war. Many Infighting males turned murderous towards each other. One sexual revolution later saw the collective rise of the females, the reformation of the state and the ascendancy of the Church. The planetary society collapsed as a capitalist oligarchy and arose anew as a Religious Autocracy led by the remaining females and few males. Ruins of this Golden Era are still to be found and studied by historians as a warning against oligarchy and as an example of anacyclosis. Today, the cycle continues with a single Matron autocrat who is executor of Church (supported by her priestesses) and State (supported by paladins, valkyries and fifth-column inquisitors). Solar system Navy is commanded and crewed by majority females. Males in the military service are relegated to support and and administration positions and left out of command, strategic and tactical theaters of conflict. One exception to this are male doctors, healers and physicians who must tend to the wounded often close to battlegrounds or space battles. One theater of conflict operations males may take part in is the harem spy, often enough to also include assassination between rival packs. Such agents are trained in seduction and deep cover operations. The Church is powerless to acknowledge such use of males and so must play ignorant to such application of so low population of their males.

Water Conservation: "The flesh is the property of the individual. Their water belongs to the world." Survival in such an inhospitable world requires the most stringent and conservative policies and measures which are supported by the Church doctrine and upheld to the limits of applied science reclamation. If a sophont dies on the planet, their body's water is extracted thoroughly and run through the hydroponics and arboretum environment biomes on the surface in a Ritual of Ascension and Return. This is a rite of passing respect to the deceased, encouraging their return to nature and returning what nature has provided them. Compensatory is the belief that one who does this for the world shall be reincarnated to a new life. Visiting travelers are warned upon touchdown of their landing gears and struts that their individual water may become forfeit should they expire on the planet. This is another societal and survival adaptation put into place by the Church.

World Culture

Social Details: Roethoeegaeaegz, being dominated by a mostly-benevolent, female-controlled Church and State, has butted heads with its local Naval Base Commodore (most often a male Vargr), the Navy, privateers and Corsairs. This is due to both sexism and reluctance to abide by the doctrines of the local Church. The Church holds that the Ancients, provided and supported by the Solomani Hypothesis, must have been female and Uplifted the Vargr race with the parallel that since females give birth that they should rule with a benevolent, life-preserving, yet firm and motherly hand or at times claw. This gives rise to law enforcement by the female paladins (Army) and valkyries (space and ground Marines). Intelligence is run by selected Church priestesses called inquisitors.

Side Note: Take attention to the fact that only the Matron of the planet has a capitalized title. All other positions and levels of the Church and State of Roethoeegaeaegz are lower-case. This is to gently remind the females in these positions to avoid abusing their granted powers.

Morals

The Church of Roethoeegaeaegz is far more strict to its members than the lay-folk citizens of the solar system. This is to keep up self-discipline in the ranks of the ruling body and its levels and offices. The Church often takes a stand in the Ascendancy Pact Representatives against UOSA (Knoellighz 2237) and its Privateer Syndicate for its decadent and wasteful practices on such a mercantile and debauched world.

Psionics

Though unfortunately present for its difficulty of prevention, psionics is almost a planetary taboo. Though a Matron need never display such psionic Talents, the citizens of Roethoeegaeaegz assume she is a Psion of any extent to hold such Charisma and planetary authority. A Matron may test with no psionic potential and yet be mistaken for a Psion. Yet despite such urban legend, the Representative and Magistrate hailing from Roethoeegaeaegz are lobbying for a complete ban on psionics from the Zhodani Consulate on the plank that mental corruption from the Humaniti Spinward of the Pact is to be avoided as deviant from Vargr 'Ascendancy'. Even so, Wild Talents do crop up in both sexes and each is wise to hide their Talents as best possible to maximize their potential and use of the misunderstood powers. Male Psions often end up in the service of the fifth column harem infiltrators. Female Psions find work in Intelligence and trade negotiations with visiting starships. Roethoeegaeaegz citizens who are found to be psionic are tested for Zhodani influence and education and quarantined if such corruption is found.

Relationships

Males can pursue intermittent careers punctuated by their terms as consorts their entire lives. Few males who are discovered sterile are released from consort duty and are even allowed to enter the military services in strategic and tactical theaters of conflict. This is rare and surgical 'sinners' are punished by law with surgery correction and indentured service terms in penal reverse harems. A female may have one, a few or an entire reverse harem of male mates under her pack house for their terms.

In the reverse harem society, males dress to attract the attention of interested females. Females dress in business suits, paladin or valkyrie uniforms, utilitarian garb, spacer suits and other apparel as their careers dictate. This leads to androgynous confusion for off-worlders when they encounter harem males gifted with jewelry from their female pack alphas. A sign of 'success' in a term (a promotion) is the addition of another piece of jewelry to a collection. Such pieces are never fakes or less than semi-precious metals and stones.

Even less common is marriage in the light of re-balancing the female-male population ratio. But marriage does happen and is enhancing of a male's Charisma (up to his fiance's Charisma rating) to be so proposed. A marriage is symbolized in a bejeweled neck torc or solid bracelet given from the female to the male. Divorce is almost unheard of and a widower inherits his wife's assets and reverse harem, choosing to eject other males, (dismissing them back to regular careers). Kidnapping of a married male can be seen as both illegal and/or a form of non-violent "counting coup" to embarrass the wife of the male.

Females may team together, especially if in the same pack, to provide for a reverse harem and populate it with selected males. By law, a male slated for a term may not refuse the selection of a female with a ready harem. Females may share reverse harem males and the alpha female may even give assignations to friendly, nearby pack reverse harems. Each pack vows to the safety of the lent male for that term of service. During harem terms, the male selected is housed and cared for even as he performs his 'duty'. Rare is the reverse harem male who fails at courtship, entertainment, and pairing with their harem alpha female(s) as their consort. Those who do can find themselves black-marked or even blacklisted and hindered outside the reverse harem in their normal careers.

It goes without saying that males with term(s) in a reverse harem pick up skills such as but not limited to: Athletics, Art, Carouse, Deception (if an undercover intelligence harem agent), Diplomat, Drive (wheeled), Flyer (any), Gambler (harem games are common), Investigate, Language (Gvegh and other Vargr languages), Medic (up to 2), Persuade, Social Sciences (philosophy), Steward, and Streetwise.

Culture and Society

Environment

Through careful and efficient mining, refining and natural underground caverns connected by natural and carved tunnels, the planet houses the main population of 4 billion. Solar panels and geothermal power sources are the primary and secondary power sources. Gravitational generators, pushed and pulled on by the two moons of Roethoeegaeaegz also provide a small amount of power. Arboretums and hydroponics on the planetary surface come in domed and stepped crater facilities that are used for food production, ranching, atmosphere recycling and water purification via the biomes there. Even still the world relies heavily on imported water, air and food from nearby worlds or skimmed gas giants.

One gift brought by off-worlders to help grease their welcome to Roethoeegaeaegz is a healthy displacement ton of water or liquid oxygen. The Airplant is a rare and valued gift to a pack or family though these are usually imports from far Rimward in the Imperium.

Urbanization

A majority of the populace on Roethoeegaeaegz live in the underground warrens and tunnel communities. Middling classes can apply for jobs offered by companies owning corporate arcologies on the planet's surface or in orbital modules adjacent to the Highport. The affluent or elite purchase or lease land plots on which are built sealed homes on the steppes of the bio-dome craters. The Matron of Roethoeegaeaegz has a Downport office, a Highport office, a warren estate, a presidential suite in any given corporate arcology and a wilderness villa in one of the bio-domes.

Historical Data

Classic Era: 1105

During the Classic Era, this world is fully in its Recovery period and the Church and State maintain it.

Rebellion Era: 1116

It is during this period that this world fully supports ousting Zhodani influences on the Vargr of Knoellighz Sector.

Hard Times: 1120

Hard Times causes lulls in trade and commerce making life harder on Roethoeegaeaegz and some increase in male smuggling off-world is noted. This is primarily due to males comparing notes with visiting males and learning of societies of sexual equality.

Virus Era: 1130s

Virus and Vampire Fleets cause the Ascendancy Pact to become rated with the Wilds, but after many battles in the space above the bombarded world, eventually communications silence is followed by quarantine protocols imported from Gvurrdon Sector through the still-despised Zhodani Consulate and the Infinity League.

Empress Wave: 1145

Just years after the Virus calamity and into visitations from Vampire Fleets, Mentored and Wild Talent Psions are caught mostly unawares by the phenomenon later called the Empress Wave. Scores of psionic Vargr are driven mad, some violently so. Many males are given the utmost care though the damage by the Wave was largely irreparable. Female Psions were relieved of any duties and also rendered jobless. Those untreatable were mercifully euthanized with their water reclaimed. This was termed The Sadness. Until 1156, many governmental, corporate or independent occupations once filled by Psions lay dormant. Afterwards any viable Mentored and Wild Talents came out of the closet to trusted officials once more.
