Ritos is a pre-agricultural, rich garden world with a moderate population of over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.
- Garden worlds are known for their near-ideal utopian environments conducive to most sophonts, plants, animals, and other forms of life.
- It is a pre-agricultural world with an environment suitable for large scale agricultural and livestock industries that have not yet been widely developed.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Protectorate of Leset in the Nisor Subsector of Far Home Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- It is a member of the Ritos Cluster.

System Data
Ceremonia-Ritos System
The primary is Ceremonia, a yellow subgiant star. It has a luminosity of 4.762 Sols, a mass of 2.12 Sols, and a diameter of 4.174 million km. The inner system consists of (II-I) a vacuum inner world, (II-II) a trace atmosphere inner world, (III) a vacuum worldlet, (IV) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (V) a thin atmosphere hospitable world – orbital position (I) is empty. (VI) Ritos orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (VII) a dense stony planetoid belt, (VIII) a large gas giant, (IX-I) a ringed large gas giant, (IX-II) a sparse icy planetoid belt form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(VI) Ritos
(VI) Ritos is designated the mainworld. It orbits Ceremonia at a mean distance of 2.75 AU (411.4 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 3 years 48 days and a rotation period of 29 hours. The axial tilt is 17 degrees. Ritos has a diameter of 13,168 km, a density of 5.99 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.12 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, with a mean surface pressure of 2.33 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor (H2O), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 74% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: 34°C. The climate is rated as Hot and experiences minor seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is very active and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the oceans surge across the globe.
Satellite
Ritos retains a single natural satellite, a thin atmosphere hospitable world named Usanza:
- (VIa) Usanza (UWP Y443000-0, orbiting at 30 Diameters/395,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 545 million km², Water surface area: 403 million km², Land surface area: 142 million km².
Native Lifeforms
Ceremonia-Ritos System
The hot marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (V) (within the H– region of the inner system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and moisture. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
Ritos, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Usanza, Ritos's temperate hospitable moon, has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)
Ritos is a member of the Protectorate of Leset.
World starport
Ritos has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Ritos possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion, and the most fundamental atomic energy.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ground cars or automobiles and tracked vehicles.
- Water: Large ships and submersibles with steel hulls.
- Air: Early aircraft including seaplanes and very early unmanned rockets.
World government
Ritos is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
