Perekir has an unbreathably thin atmosphere and very little surface water. The system has a population between 1 million and 10 million sophonts, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Laraa Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Perekir, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. During the Long Night this world was named Khanamusa.

Astrography and planetology

Perekir is currently awaiting development by the sector.

Native Lifeforms

Khana carnivorous reptilians resembling a cross between an alligator and a squid native to the equatorial mangrove swamps.

History and background

The population consists almost entirely of prospectors who are employed to survey the world for the locations of any mineral sites to exploit profitably.

Although originally colonised early in the Rule of Man, the original settlement failed when they fell afoul of the Khana, carnivorous reptilians native to the equatorial mangrove swamps and believed at the time to potentially be evolving towards sentiency. The Khana are still proving to be a major problem to colonisation. Resembling a cross between an alligator and a squid, the presence of the Khana on the world stopped any further colonisation for centuries.

Brethren Uplift Institute and Imperial Interstellar Scout Service were initially convinced that the Khana were on the verge of crossing over into true sentiency provided they remained unexploited. However, after being under observation for over six hundred years, the IISS have finally accepted that they are evolutionary stagnant and are unlikely to ever progress any further. Their findings, released in 1102, have opened the way for Perekir to be colonised.
