Pel Salvet is a rich, nonindustrial world.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- It has high-grade living conditions and life on this world is much admired by off-worlders.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Sena Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

System Data
Verdin-Pel Salvet System
The primary is Verdin, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.778 Sols, a mass of 0.96 Sols, and a diameter of 1.299 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a very thin atmosphere inner world, and (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world. (III) Pel Salvet orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a standard atmosphere hospitable world, (V) a large gas giant, (VI) a ringed small gas giant, (VII) a dense atmosphere bigworld, (VIII) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (IX) a large gas giant, (X) a small ice giant, and (XI) a trace atmosphere iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(III) Pel Salvet
(III) Pel Salvet is designated the mainworld. It orbits Verdin at a mean distance of 0.71 AU (106.2 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 247 days 18 hours and a rotation period of 22.5 hours. The axial tilt is 11 degrees. Pel Salvet has a diameter of 9,781 km, a density of 5.35 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.74 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 0.88 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen (N2), 22% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 22% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: 19°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and strong weather systems driven by the star sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Satellite
Pel Salvet retains a single natural satellite, a trace atmosphere worldlet called Tanix:
- (IIIa) Tanix (UWP H210000-0, orbiting at 20 Diameters/196,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 301 million km², Land surface area: 235 million km², Water surface area: 66 million km².
Native Lifeforms
Verdin-Pel Salvet System
Pel Salvet, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (IV) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting almost entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)
No information yet available.
World starport
Pel Salvet has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Pel Salvet possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World government
Pel Salvet is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.
