History & Background (Dossier)

In antebellum times it was most famous for its extensive diamond beds in its northern latitudes. Though these did not produce any noteworthy large stones, the quantity of stones found in its "black sand" deposits is astonishing. The population subsisted by harvesting and selling these stones to industry for various manufacturing purposes and the manufacture of grinding and emery products. Though not particularly valuable, these fields were off limits to the casual tourists, though some lesser beds near the starport were open for casual tourists and ship crews to dig through for low quality sparklers.

History-Era: Rebellion

Being little more than a poor resource world is probably what saved it from the worst of Vargr depredations. The world fell to the Irrgh Manifest in 1117 without a struggle, as the local military was severely outnumbered and outgunned by the invading marauders. A number of Vargr corsairs seized and parceled out the gem beds among themselves, only to be disappointed by the long hours of tedious work required to actually make a profit. Most pulled out in pursuit of greater riches to rim or trailing, leaving the locals largely alone. The local representative government was the sole casualty of the invasion, being replaced with a more centralized dictatorship as the world's markets failed.

History-Era: New Era

Like Faraway (Corridor 0308), the people of Pamock have been subject to heavy taxation by one or two of Corridors vampire fleets in the past. However the world has made contact with the surviving factions of Drayne (Corridor 0910) who have provided increasing security in return for payments of raw diamonds. The Bey of Pamock owes his power to the Vampires, and has only pursued this contact in hopes of extending his reign. The Draynians have used his generosity to begin an economic takeover. Already they started construction of a new class D starport, and armed troops have been exported to protect the new facility, or as the locals suspect, to do even more...
