Oyelun is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.

  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Biika Subsector of Verge Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
  • This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
  • This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)

Oyelun has a solitary primary star.

  • It is a red main sequence.

System Data

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data

Oyelun is tidally locked to its star.

  • It experiences libration - a regular wobble - as it orbits, causing the star to move in the sky.

It orbits towards the outer edge of the star's narrow habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)

Oyelun is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Oyelun has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Oyelun has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

  • The twilight zone is littered with pack ice and icebergs.
  • The dark side of the world is covered in an unstable floating crust of fractured ice.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
